Catalytic converter theft deterrent options?

Love em, full steel front-rear including gas tank. Heavy AF but they hold up pretty well in the rocky desert.

 

Looks like I need to get my Transfer case skid done to remain competitive.

Granted their 1/4" Aluminum setup is 425 all in plus whatever they charge for shipping vs my 365 shipped.

 

You make Tundra cat plates as well? Front and rear?

I've got RCI Skids fitted.

Just ordered the "wings" to cover the cats.

I use these Security Bolts from McMaster.

Love your stuff but I went with steel because I abuse the hell out of my skids.

If I was more worried about weight savings and the Cat protection I would have used your products.

Im guessing the plate does not come with bolts?

I'm using those security bolts to slow a potential thief down. I have the older, non-drilled RCI plate I bought a year ago. So need to drill the bolt holes.

A determined thief can remove those plates, but it takes time. The longer it takes, the more likely they are caught.

 

Luckily most cat thefts are targets of opportunity and they want to get in and out as fast as the can. Just looking under the truck and seeing the plates in place will get them to move on to the next easy target.

I do like those bolts though.

 

To clarify, you mounted your skids with this security hardware?

 

My point of view: my ins. Deductible is $500…. Figure if my got jacked I’d get the URD Bypass for about the same $ (that’s only like $100-200 more than a good cat shield.

 

I prefer my 45 for 2 reasons, 1 it eliminates the theft and 2 it eliminates the thief from taking more latter. Basically you cali guys are F*CKED lol

They can have a cat off in less than 3 minutes. You're going to be able to wake up, grab your 45 and get out to your driveway in less than that time?
