I started my back bedroom remodel/laundry room addition the week after Christmas. I figured a month tops to finish it. Pushing 3 months now cause stuff just keeps popping up to add to the project. Eventually I just had to commit to finishing the job as planned and do the smaller extra stuff at another time.

All Ive got left is the color coat of paint on the walls and ceiling, hanging and trimming out 8 doors, and installing new baseboards.

Finished the wall extension, learned a few things, would have done some stuff differently but it’ll do for this house!

Anyone know what this splayed out washer thingy is called? It holds the wheel on the axle of a hand truck.

What can you tell me about vapor barriers?

I’ve got a nice shed in the backyard of this house that I bought last year. Big. Big enough to put the pool table in that I’ve had sitting in storage for years and be able to actually play it.

It’s a shed though so it’s hot as balls in summer and cold in the winter so I was looking into insulating which brought me to vapor barriers and if I read correctly, in my zone, vapor barrier would go between the siding and the sheathing. Not sure that’s an option so my question is this - how important is a vapor barrier in a situation like this?

Vinyl siding over 7/16 sheathing. Metal roof.

Have you checked behind the siding to see if there isn't a vapor barrier already there? Also, if you get insulation batts with the paper, that is a vapor barrier.

I did pull the siding back slightly at the bottom and didn’t see any, maybe they just didn’t go all the way down with it.

What I read online, the location of the vapor barrier seemed important based on your climate zone.

I don't know about that. Just some questions I had thought of.

Finishing the inside and putting a window unit in. Thought about a little wood stove maybe…

i wouldn’t worry too much about a vapor barrier but if you do the outside of the wall assembly would be the correct place in your cooling dominated climate. Keep that outside brutal humidity out of your walls.
Again, I wouldn’t sweat it (lol sorry for the dad joke) as much as the apparently missing breathable housewrap (Tyvek etc) but that would mean pulling the siding to install
When you’re insulating the ceiling make sure you leave a pathway for air to pass from the eaves to the ridge vent and you should definitely consider putting a radiant barrier up there
thats a really nice looking shed btw

I edited my above post to include recommending a radiant barrier and ample airflow thru the attic :)

Thanks! It’s got a garage door on the side, former owner kept a SxS in it.

I don't have that exact model, but I do have a Kreg Pocket-Hole Jig. The cheap one that looks like this.

I've built a bunch of stuff using it, mostly tables and work benches. Works great in my opinion. The finished product has been plenty strong for my needs and the jig speeds up assembly quite a bit. The clamp on the one you're looking at has got to be better than the "vice grip" affair that I have.

Spray the walls with closed cell spray foam insulation. That will be your moisture barrier.
