Tacoma or Tundra?

I've never test-driven a Tundra but based on your assessment, I don't want to! lol

While I was in the process of purchasing my Sport, I sat in an SR5 Tundra...holy cow! It just felt "oversized" and totally unnecessary for my needs.

The Tacoma is nimble...like my 1982 GS750T. Yeah, bike is almost 500 lbs but when it rides, it moves perfectly for a vintage bike.

Lots of info on the tundra having issues already. It was in the news even.

Ecoboost has been out longer. Those are more reliable by default, as the 3.5 twin turbo Tundra just came out.

 

BUt on another thread you wanted a 90 review to prove reliability of a truck but here you name a truck unreliable without a 90 day test. Which is it?

 

Why does the Nissan Cube look like a Rivian R1T from this angle? Lol

I thought the headlights on the Rivian were more horizontal like the tailights on the cube. There's also the wrap around rear window on the cube, looks like the a pillar and windshield on the Rivian.

I wanted to see if Nissan still made the Cube, since I suggested that vehicle to the person asking about the Tacoma or Tundra, when looking into that I saw a bunch of pictures of Nissan cubes. Those cubes from the back looked to resemble what a Rivian looked like from the front.

Once you demanded an answer, I found it funny to joke about the resemblance of those to vehicles.

Hard choice, the twin turbo 3.5L has been in Lexus models for only a couple years and I believe reliability of those years wasn't fantastic. I'd also want to wait a few years after the first model year just so some bugs and gremlins are worked out.

 

You don't think an engine design that has been around longer isn't more reliable than one that has only been available for a few months?

 

It's been used in one or two Lexus models for a couple years.

 

I just rented a second gen tundra. Felt like a work vehicle. No frills or thrills. Power was ok. My taco is heavily modded with aftermarket suspension, sound and sound deadening so the ride experience felt worse. I can imagine doing the same mods would make the tundra way nicer though.
