QUESTION: Anyone with an M&P shield. I have an M&P shield 9. When releasing the magazine and its empty it comes out like normal. Just falls right out. When loaded and hit the release it only pops out about half an inch. Is that normal and some safety type of mechanism or not normal? My Springfield armory XD9 comes out no matter what, so just wanted to be sure.

Investigate it, poke around inside. I'm sure you can work out what's going on.

Yep. No change between empty or full mag with slide forward or locked back.

I just purchased some more reloading stuff, new case length gauges and more bullets. I so tired of not being able to find small pistol primers. I think maybe I'll hit Bass Pro Shop early one morning.

Does this occur with all of your mags or just a single mag?

It sounds kind of like the body of the mag is swelling slightly with rounds in it

Happens with both magazines that it came with. According to everyone this is not normal so either when the round are in it's catching on something or swelling like youre saying. I will investigate and try and figure it out

Thing to remember is the manufacturing process has room for variations in specifications. I ran into a similar issue using an M4A1 lower with an arronado flared mag well and P-mags. Ended up finding where it was catching and assisted with the break in process to let it fall free.

So your release could be catching on the magazines (if it's more than one mag it's likely not the magazines but not completely impossible) but if the magazines are from the same batch it may be a multiple factor situation.

Is the Pistol new? Try running your magazines several times (took me about 30 or 40 after I broke mine in) and to see where it could be catching do it slow and feel for the tension and see if you can figure out where it came from.

It's probably just variations in specifications from manufacturing and should break in.

Thank you for the reply. Its about 2 years old but have only shot the gun a couple times. Other than that its cleaned and stays holstered for the most part. Mags have prob gone in and out of the gun around 40x or so over that couple years. I will def investigate thank you

Felt recoil is reduced by 30 percent or so on a single port like this one. With a dual port, like the ones on my glock 19 and P320, you can get 40+ percent. I have yet to shoot this particular setup (hopefully Sunday), but my overall goal is to make +P 124gr easier to manage in this micro 9.
