Took the 1ton for a drive this past weekend.... me, wife, and dog... up around the Quabbin, etc...

My neighbor was ribbing me about "showing off"...

But, the reality... she is looking to go back to school, and back into the workforce(maybe I can start working civilized hours???)...
Trying to find something "amusing" for her to drive, while not being incredibly thirsty, or gaudy....
Current target is a SHO.. AWD, and quick, while pretty boring looking to most...

In the van... cruise control @80-85...
    Damn thing gets 12mpg @65 or 85...

Getting like 11mpg over here. I took everything out of my truck and got it to 12 mpg. I am thinking about taking off my 33" Spare off of my swingout in the rear, taking off all three of my skids, and my winch for the time being. Maybe I can get to 14mph. Maybe I should invest in some 30.5" oem tires and stock rims for the time being as well. My God, 33's make your rig into a pig.

I'm waiting for the summer gas to start rolling in and letting my mpg go upwards. The Ram 2500 is great in the cylinder deactivation for gas mileage, but with the summer gas I can get close to 18 mpg.

My truck would only get this kind of mileage if I lit it fire and pushed it off a cliff!

Never hurts to ask I guess. I mean, maybe someone is already mulling a change based on need and that just pushes the issue.

I started driving the route with fewer potholes - side effect is good gas mileage because it isn't as hilly. I'm currently averaging 22.8 MPG. Realistically, it's probably closer to 22 if I hand calculate it.

It seems like some of the stations around here have switched over to summer blend as I've noticed an uptick in fuel economy.

My morning commute doesn't usually have a ton of traffic so I can get an indicated 19.5-20 MPG (likely a half MPG lower in reality accounting for larger tires). Traffic drops me down a little big, likely mid-18s. I suspect throwing my KO2s back on will drop it down a bit more. That being said, I don't see how people get mid-teen fuel economy on these trucks unless they're absolutely romping on it all the time.

I wish my truck didn't ping on 87. I've read Toyota considers it "normal" and whatnot, but it's just one of those things I'd prefer not to deal with. Luckily the delta between regular and premium isn't increasing. I remember the halcyon days of $0.10 intervals between grades, now it's nearly $0.50.

I had planned on taking a trip to NJ this summer to visit a friend, maybe I'll risk taking the Vette as it regularly gets 30+ MPG on the highway.

Very impressive for the Vette. Where in NJ?

Always have. 17 winter 20 summer or there abouts. The summer numbers usually pull in a lot more highway like going to Vermont and Maine though. Where the winter numbers have a lot less of that and mostly city going to and from work. So I don't know how much is winter blend versus remote start and driving goals.

Yeah I used to drive my Mazda for fun. I drive my truck as a truck. :notsure: I'm pretty grandpa like to begin with.

Nice. Honestly my gas bills are about 100 a month. I don't drive a lot. So even if gas doubles it's not a huge hit for me. I'm looking at an electric vibrator on wheels anyway unrelated to gas prices. Trying to find a leaf or smart car for 5-7.

Get that SHO. Those things are fun.

    ?

I have the 5 speed so 5th is overdrive. I only use 5th over 40 mph though.

Oooh an SHO - I was looking for one before I got the fusion but couldn't find one that wasn't crazily marked up. I wish everyone driving slow would drive slow in all the other lanes except for the left lane. I had to go around 4-5 cars doing 65 in the left lane this morning.... Drivers are moving significantly slower that's for sure.

Drivers have just moved either end of the bell curve. It's either 55 in the left lane or 90 in the right lane and trying to taste my receiver. Pandemic has killed the normal curve of driving.

I put some Bilstein 4600s on the back of the truck today. Ford's factory rear shocks are horrible and I did the same thing with my last truck. I could compress the stock ones with very little effort and these Bilsteins were a little challenging to compress with one hand while lining up the bolt with the other.
