Any woodworkers?

Yeah, after spending a nice warm week too busy to do any woodworking, I’m spending a too-cold weekend sitting on the couch. :-| really need to finish insulating and heating the garage.

 

There is no adjustment or room for variation. Everything has to be exact. For instance, I needed to space the hinges 4mm apart, but had one at 3.78 (or something like that) and it wouldn't work. When open, the distance between the near edges of the holes is 4mm. That means the holes have to be 2mm away from the edge. That's a pretty thin wall. Also, the 8mm barrel hinge is slightly larger than 8mm (something like 8.1). So an 8mm drill bit is too small. I had to drill 8mm, then use a smaller bit wrapped in sand paper to enlarge it. It's hard to make it consistently larger in each direction, which throws off the exact alignment off. I ended up jamming pieces of toothpicks around the hinge to hold it in place, then try opening and closing, adjusting the toothpicks, try again, until it worked. Then JB Weld them in.

I tried a jig, clamps, etc. on a lot of test pieces but didn't find a sure fire method. I will say I'm new to woodworking, so it may be easier for someone with experience.

Yep, good old "cheap" stuff. I just hit it with ebony stain wipe excess off.

Anyone ever see a table saw blade true on one side but not the other? I square up one side and the other is .005 off.

 

Yes!! I've been fighting my 1974 Craftsman saw for a couple of years that does this very thing

 

Dunno if its the machine or the blade...both are new
