Just wondering how some of you guys drive and you gas mileage.

    I drive 90 miles a day...mostly highway . I run 65-75mph. 5th gear at 75 is like 2500 rpms.

With 334k miles I've had people tell me not to push it so hard but she keeps on ticking.

On my old Taco I would rarely get above 3000 rpms and usually get over 20 mpg. With 4.56 gearing and 33's I cruised 70 at 2300-2500 in 5th. The motor is now in my 4Runner but I've yet to drive it enough to get a base of how it's doing.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You have been driving like that with no problems keep up with the oil changes and tune ups . Then mechanical devices do fail that might not have anything to do with your driving style.

It might be different if you just bought the truck it was used for a trip to the grocery store and picking up project goodies less then 200 miles a month . Then run a 100 miles a day at a higher rpm the engine seldom saw.

    Good Luck!

I try and take it easy just because the old girl is almost 20 years old and had a rattle or two

usually don’t care much about acceleration and all that. Never really have. I have a pretty short commute so I’m also not rushing around to get home or to work.

that said, I’m continually impressed by how quick and nimble the 2.7 is on the rare occasion that I ask of it. All though being a reg cab probably helps.

I beat the piss outta mine with 350k on the original motor. Would drift the truck around in the rain, bang it off limiter snow wheeling, etc. Sold it with 360k, and think the current owner has it around 390k now after a couple years.

I jumped on my 2.7 pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy street and one of tires squealed. I didn’t think that could happen and I immediately apologized to the truck for the abuse.

My '96 has 415,000 miles on the 2.7 and I drive it just like I do my 2018 TRD Sport, don't run the hell out of it but don't baby it either.

OP I’m at 334k as well. I must have low gears cause I’m at 2,500rpm at 70mph.

I’m on 265x75r16’s and it has plenty of power, barely every get over 3,000 with normal driving.
