Unfortunately I don't think any of these updates fix that. It sounds like the digitizer went bad. But others may have seen this before and maybe there was a simple and cheap/free fix.

2017 TRD Off Road with Premium Etune, worked flawless, just put the USB in the truck, hit start and waited about 2 min before I hit update and took 15-20 min total. Just a side note I had a 4GB USB and I had 2 files on the USB. The truck selected the file it wanted. Thanks OP

Yes, you need (should) start the engine first.

Sorry I was not very clear on that. I had the truck off, inserted the USB, Started the truck and let it run through the entire process then there is the final step to turn off the truck and restart it.

I updated mine from 1730 to 1790 last night with .kwi files from https://www.toyota.com/firmware-updates/

I see the changelog/TSB in the 1st post for 1785, but any idea what 1790 does? When updating it only said something like "increases product appeal."

I didn't notice anything appearance-wise - probably bug fixes? I was just curious if the changes were listed out anywhere.

Absolute legend @ktbell444. I've been looking for the last year for updates, see them in the TSB's all the time but can never find a reputable source for them. Really just wish Toyota would actually y'know, let their customers do simple stuff like download and update firmware that they add into the Settings menu. But as a former cybersecurity professional I also know I can't trust users to do simple shit right lol.

Did you ever figure out what it was? When I test drove mine it was like this. Salesmen went out after my test drive and it worked fine. Was fine for a week until I let the truck sit for 24 hours then it did it again. I shut it off and restarted it and it was fine. It's at the dealer now and hopefully it will act up for them.

Nope. Knobs work and the steering wheel controls work. I would think if that was the case it wouldn't work at all or go off/on over rough pavement. Which there certainly was both on my test drive and between my house and the shop where it acted up the second time. Hoping it acts up for them. Which is why I dropped it off friday and they aren't touching it until Monday. I mean I am a mechanic but I really don't want to replace a $1k radio a year from now. It's got navigation but no JBL.

I'm having the same issues i.e. dropped calls, etc. I'm moving the files to a USB now. I'll report back.

    Oh, Thanks so much @ktbell444

Nope. USB Fat32, all .kwi files on USB. I went through the steps but the update software button remains grayed out. I'm going to try another USB. Or perhaps it's already up to date?

    What's your current version?
Did you extract the files from the zip file and place the files in the root directory of your thumb drive?
How big is your thumb drive?
