Mine was a 1999 5.4 gasser. Great engine until the spark plugs started flying.

I heard there was issues with the older 5.4 tritons. Not sure if yours was a triton. They were also gas hogs

My 2016 6.2 F350 has been good except it needed front wheel bearings at 45k. It has 1500lbs in it at all times. Even with duratracs on it, my 20 year old CRv on $50 tires gets through mud much better. To be fair, the CRV just floats. The 9k lb 350 only sinks.

I'd compare my ford maverick to my tacoma but its not even in the same category lol. It completely destroys it in acceleration, Fuel economy, comfort and tech. I wish my tacoma had half the stuff the mavy does. The semi autopilot is awesome too. Only 1 things the tacoma does better and thats off-roading in some deep holes or something requiring the locker. So if the small maverick is so great the ranger will be even better.

Gotta have fun with it. can't take things to seriously. But, to respond more appropriately. A sample size of one does not even make a linear trend. I guess, if jeeps were catching on fire in every city then you could make a trend. One persons sample size means nothing. For example, I had a rubicon. It was 100% reliable. Yet, wranglers(behind tesla) are the second most unreliable vehicle for 2021 according to consumer report.

I hear ya, I had a brand new Jeep back in 88 and had zero issues with it, had a great time with it. We have had Fords over the years and have had good luck with them, no issues as well. My buddy has the Gladiator Rubicon and really likes it. If I had to sell my 13 Tacoma not sure what I'd get.

The problem is that no one stands out. Toyota typically gives you enough to want to buy it, but not enough not to look around. The recipe we all want is simple. Ruggedness, reliability, torque, options/amenities/looks. They all give you two sides of that box, but it's hard to get 3 sides, not to mention 4.

The answer is easy, built not bought. Can build anything you want to fit the needs and desires. Usually it isn’t cheap and quite time consuming.

Though my wants tend to change on a daily basis…Maybe I’ll import an Aussie 70 series, or maybe get a 4WD Sprinter, though their emissions system is suspect, Transit is better, but their AWD is so-so..or perhaps a Suby, nah….4WD Econoline, or how about a Land Rover 110, Merc G-Wagon…nah F350 for sure…though those VW Golf GTIs are kinda cool…Sportwagon Alltrac would be even better, a lifted one even more so. That Grenadier sure looks cool! https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/us/re...fCCrd0oXTVOj_tcFmQtchOpHxXcHNFmBoCcPkQAvD_BwE

Oh well, guess a Tacoma will have to do for now…lol!

    1st World problems… lol!

I wonder if a high trim level like the Raptor will have many options. The "base" Ranger Raptor might be fully loaded. Of course, dealer add ons and mark up are another story.

I've seen so many posts here bashing the turbo 4 of the Ranger. And yet when the next gen Tacoma comes out, it'll most likely have a turbo 4. Then it'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread...because it's a Toyota.

A Toyota that needs its frame replaced before it’s turbo.

I don't see how anyone can justify purchasing a Tacoma Pro anyway. However, I like the naturally aspirated V6 in the Tacoma, less to go wrong and cheaper to fix when it does. The Tacoma already puts out enough power for me. That said, the extra 1,500 pound towing capacity could be nice.

It's turbo. Not even Toyota builds reliable turbo engines for the long run. (I'm talking wayyy down the road)

It's the life of a fanatic. You see it a lot in sports. Right now, Dodgers fans hate Carlos Correa. If he signs with the Dodgers, they'll be in love.
