Anyone know what these white unused wires are for? I assuming some kind of package my truck does not have that is pre-wired. The wires end and looks like they have heat shrink on them at the ends.

They are located on right side of engine compartment next to the battery.

I have a 2021 TRD Off Road Automatic with technology package only.

Probably for an option that your truck doesn't include.

Toyota uses pretty standard wiring harnesses for their vehicles. You’d be surprised by what you’d find behind the dash!

Someone with another package would have to chime in on what it’s connected too. Maybe a limited or a sport.

I have a limited with the same bundles of wires, trucks also a 2016, I was just googling to see what they were and came across this post. I won’t bother creating a new thread for the same thing.

IF these are ground wires, couldn't we theoretically ground accessories with them? Don't know much about vehicle wiring except that mistakes hurt, cause smoke, and smell funny - so I gotta ask.

    So true.

Yes, wires on our Toyotas colored white with a black tracer are GROUNDS. In most cases you can find a stud or bolt to ground to, so getting into these type of splices is generally unnecessary.

That's what I've done in the past. It would be interesting to see if these "spare" grounds could be used. The tried & true will work for now.

I guess it’s just good to have some extra grounding. On the bright side it’s something from the factory and not a remote start or some other left over mess from the previous owner so I can leave it alone and not worry about it.

These grounds are filled with sealant or glue to keep them waterproof and from corroding. It would be best not to disturb them without the same adequate treatment. Especially the ones located outside the cab. Theses splices occur through out the vehicle.
