I have a regular cab 95.5 Tacoma. Just wondering how much one should spend on a decent paint job? P.S. The truck has no rust or dents.

3500$ depending where you go and how much prep needs to be done. And what level of respray you want. Just painting the outside will be cheaper then haveing the whole truck done

2500 and up! I've paid between 2000 and 8000, depending on if the glass is all getting pulled, is the bay, interior and underside getting done, etc.

But imo just get a good wrap job as long as the paint underneath isnt to pad. Wraps are cheaper or just as much as a paint job but you can get it in so many colors and if you ever get tired of it you can peel ot off. Also it will save your paint underneath from getting scratched up so if you ever decided to sell you can perl the wrap off if its really beat up and then you got a cleaner looking truck

A friend has a neighbor who wrapped his lease vehicle. Looks bad ass and when he peels it off to return it, it will look brand new!

I got a quote from Maaco, yeah I know it's Maaco but this specific branch is one of the highest rated ones in the state. They painted a friend of mine's 1985 HMMV from the original military finish to a decent glossy black. When I was getting the quote they had another first gen in the shop and it looked great.

I was quoted $1,500 total, $999 for the integrated clear and base coat and another $500 for some body work and tax. Not my first choice but it's cheap and I have to stop the clear coat corrosion on the truck or it will start to rust.

Eventually I'm going to bring it to the local occupational college to have it done properly by their auto body school. They do amazing work but the waiting list is like eight months to a year. It's free besides the cost of materials. My buddy has a 1970's era Mustang from the rust belt and these guys cut and welded new body panels and made the thing look absolutely beautiful.

I was told if I wanted my completely done it would be over $5k for an OEM level or better respray, glass, door handles, grill, all trim pieces out.

I replaced the bed this past winter and had them do a top notch respray on it and that was, well expensive as frig, but worth it.

The people dreaming of good results for $1500 well decent materials are about half that. Don't forget that Hector and Tim's arms will get tired of filling, blocking and masking trying to squeeze a profit out of that last bit of left over money

The only thing I can say is that you get what you pay for, really. Remember that a cheap job is going to be cheap. Might be okay at a distance, but up close you'll see defects and it might annoy you over time (if you care about these details).

Also, good quality materials are more expensive than cheap ones.
Then you have the prep work, which is the most important part. Most of the time, cheap means less prep work and expensive means more prep work

A decent paintjob is around 3k-5k

A cheapo paintjob you might regret it. An expensive job will be expensive, but you will be much less likely to regret it

Don't cheap out on paint either. If - you plan on keeping it for a while. All seals around windows, doors etc. Things you run across when you are doing a re-spray always come up. But - 3K-5k is just about right.

I run a medium sized body shop. I just finished painting a Dodge Dakota for my stepson. I spent 1500 on materials by the time you figure sandpaper, primer, paint, clearcoat and other shop supplies. If you are getting a paint job for less than 4, it's not going to be good. And, if you're planning to get a good paint job in the near future anyway, just leave it alone. It's a nightmare getting all that bad paint off in prep for the good. The price will skyrocket

I went the route last month of having only the hood, rear tailgate, rear bed side panels and fiberglass Leer shell repainted and clear coated professionally for $3000. These areas had accelerated clear coat damage and I decided to concentrate on those first.

About how much time did you put into getting it painted?
