Is it better to have it light weight so quicker swings but less force. Or heavy so its harder to use but heavy impacts

Pretty much same, only got the spatula or belt a few times with the assurance that I "could have had it so much worse"

    Any riding pants are nice.
I wear fox pants. Or if its really cold then some under armor joggers.
But if you fine your slipping pedals alot then Maybe its time for good pedals and some riding shoes.

I have one belt memory and it was when I was 3 - 4 years old (based on the house we were living in) which is really kinda fucked, but that's the only one. At least that I remember lol. But yeah all in all physical repercussions were an extreme measure/last resort though it did happen. Usually I just got grounded or had privileges/things taken away.

The worst thing I remember doing at that house around that age was pulling the pinstripes off our neighbor's brand new car lol

Some actual mtb shoes and good pedals make a huge difference.

Haha! I’ll keep that in mind!

I know a couple dudes that should be getting their NWF boxes and triples soon, and I want to get their impressions before I let go of the Taco Box. You can’t even buy the damn things anymore. MC will (maybe) sell you adapters, but no complete assemblies, AFAIK.

But, if you’re really interested and motivated, PM me and we can talk about possibilities.

Nothing wrong with following the opportunities that are presented to you!

I’ve worked in a few different fields over the years, but I started as an apprentice electrician after high school, then did a little framing and concrete, but decided I didn’t necessarily want to have to work outside as much.

Ever since then, I’ve worked as a technician while I was chipping away at my electrical engineering degree. Ended up working for two aerospace/defense companies over twenty years that were focused on RF and antennas, so that along with some mixed signal electronics work is the majority of my experience. The second defense company I worked for wasn’t one of the huge prime contractors, but we played ball with them quite a bit and it was big enough to be publicly traded. I made it all the way to a senior technical specialist grade and ran a lab for a while, and it was definitely cool work.

But I got sick of too much overtime on too little salary and bailed a few years ago and jumped to a completely different sector. Now I’m working in alternative energy and after about six months there teching, my boss told me I was promoted to a senior engineer out of the blue one day. They even paid me accordingly :D Now I get to do all the design work I want, but still get my hands dirty once in awhile. All of our engineers do the assembly on our prototypes, which involves some machining, so that’s cool.

I never thought that I’d end up here career-wise, but I’m pretty grateful that I did.

TL;DR: I’m an old jack-of-all-trades and I was a tech for over twenty years then made senior engineer through no planning or strategy of my own :p

    Keep an eye on Pinkbike.

I got a set of relatively cheap HT flats for like 30 bucks shipped. I was also gifted a pair of Five Ten Freerider shoes from a local TW guy that are really nice and help a ton. I’m still getting used to them and kinda miss my old ass toe clips on climbs, tho, but that might just be me sucking at climbing, too.

Regardless, it’s worth it to have both and not worry about slips.
