What's Your Scoop On Scoops

I did a search and poked around some threads, saw the "make the scoop functional" post, not what I'm after. Saw the Satoshi, non-satoshi grill mods with matching hood scoop material, once again not what I'm after. So just what am I after, everything else. Please post up whatever you've done to the hood scoop, ya even the Knight Rider mods, I'm looking for something to stir the creative juices. Nothing and I mean nothing is too extreme or wacky, ya just never know what might come from it.

 

There's nothing for it to function as really. Couple people cut it out to "get more cooling air" in the hood. But this can have mixed results as they don't have a wind tunnel. You can be trying to push air against radiator or suck it from past exhaust depending on pressure at that area and what not.

 

Truck, bike, and car forums are filled with non functional accessories...Like wheels..Some people change out wheels just for the color..... I rarely if ever remove a functional part to replace it with a part that offers nothing more than aesthetic value. I try to buy vehiles whose previous owner had the same intent and taste.

 

I truly don't want to discourage any input, however I did say that I'm not after trying to make the scoop fucntional, or match grill materials. 2 posts and already it's going exactly where I didn't want to go.

Phil, not trying to be a dick man, just trying to avoid others ripping me for not searching or creating duplicate threads. You certainly have been known for contributing positively to the TW. I apologize for coming too harsh.

So if you don't like the scoop then just swap it with a non-scoop owner

 

I actually have several guys wanting me to make a decision on whether I'll trade them hoods. I'm more-or-less just too lazy to get with them (and anxious about changing status quo). Put up an ad, immediately got 4-6 hits within an hour. Got a lot of young mini-trucker kids that want an x runner but bought a 2wd base.

 

No man I don't want to trade it, I'm looking for some outside the box ideas for modding it.

 

you should re-read what the OP put in his first post, NO FUNCTIONAL SCOOP TALK.

 

You need a sticker with an arrow that says INSERT PIZZA

 

That point on the hood is a low pressure point. It effectively sucks air out of your air box if you do that.....

My neighbor says the same about his scooped jeep. I ask him how he knows this. He mumbles and walks away.

It is feasible that the radiator fan can blow more air over the engine when stopped. But not terribly feasible.

 

The hood scoop is much more noticeable on lighter color Tacoma's than on the darker colored ones.

 

What about that Knight rider mod except it only comes on when signals lights are used, and only in the direction whichever side the signal lights come on?

 

Come on - talk about jackin a thread. If this topic doesn't interest you, well there is plenty of other stuff to talk about here on TW -TN and elsewhere. Phill, you went all in on this topic and I appreciate it, great ideas, although if the truth be known, I'm not sold on a few of them but knee slappers none the less. That is exactly the kind of conversations I was hoping to elicit. You certainly picked up on the - lets talk about something different concept. I dig the tech talk as much as the next guy. Ok so let's reset, the rest of you folks follow Phill's lead and keep em coming, nothing is off limits - Hm - almost nothing.
