Sorry guys! - wife’s BMW broke down while traveling away from home in Anaheim.
    (I could feel it coming!)
    :frusty::goingcrazy:

I used to be a big fan of BMW but I honestly hate that car!

I am at home 4hrs away and off camping with the boys and barely have signal.

so of course I came here! :D

On another thread we were commenting about how many taco owners also have BMWs…

Can anyone please recommend an independent BMW shop in the Anaheim vicinity?

apologies for interrupting the regular scheduled programming but I’m a bit of a bind…

My buddy is a top shelf BMW mechanic in Huntington Beach. Don't know if you can get there or not. He won't be open this weekend though.

A big fat SECOND on that one - I have an E46 M3 and a 128i I6 and love em.
The strait 6 + MT is cash $$ all freaking day, so much fun as long as you keep up on the suspension maintenance ;)
Seen that issue turn a good car into crap, right quick, more than once..

My mechanic buddy and I were talking about this a few months back b/c he had #3 blown/up 4cyl turbo in his shop - said they sucked and by 75K were toast.

Glad it was a simple fix as a hose. Do yourself a favor and dump it now before it only gets worse in the pockets. It's one ya 5 year old car and it starting to turn it ugly head. Enjoy your camping with the kids and your wife should get home safe to you.

Your wife has good taste in BMW’s but wrong engine!

Hope she made it back home safely.

I miss my highway road trips in the X5 but I don’t miss the paranoia of future breakdowns.

    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
‘68 1600- awesome little car. What it lacked in power it made up with cornering. Z’s and 911’s couldn’t keep up nor pull away from it on the curves.

I also put knobby rear tires on it and offroaded with it as if it was a rally race in the desert. Bottomed out once and bent the floor -my friend sitting in back got his feet stuck under the seat. Had to kick it back down to free him.

That was my first and last, no other BMW could ever be better than that car!

    Thanks all!
She just got the car back and is on the road... :broccoli: She seems nervous about heading back at this time.
NOW she seems open to finding an alternative...

She'll head home in the morning.

I hope we can get rid of it. (Anyone interested? :D)

Good looking car - not a bad drive either. I just do not understand BMWs evident lack of quality and full on effort to prevent DIY work / maintenance. I hate working on the thing... it is annoying.

The fake 2nd exhaust pipe, and 'enhanced' engine sounds via the audio system are simply should sucking... WTF?

She was eyeing a 2002 at the shop. I told her that that is more like what she SHOULD have gotten!

Time to look for an EV!

I 100% agree that their efforts to prevent you from DIY is insane.

On my E36 - to do the brakes or intake filter - it was easy, really easy - now there are like 6 'sheild's that you have to remove and other bs that is just in the way/makes it take 2x longer. I am not amused but I do love the 128i so until an E36 re/appears in my life . . .
