What is this hose coming from the intake

Was checking my fluids and came across this broken hose. Can someone tell me what hose this is and where I could find a replacement? Thanks!

 

Regular vacuum hose. Any parts store will sell it by the foot. Take it off and show them so they can give you the correct length and diameter. Shouldn’t be more than $20

Also curious what the purpose is, I see it connects to a solenoid of some sort, an explanation would be much appreciated. Want to learn as much as I can about my taco

 

You may want to get some various sized silicon vacuum from Amazon and go to town replacing as many of the vacuum lines as possible. If that line broke- the others are likely not far behind.

Be careful at the parts stores- they will often only carry fuel line on the reels and try to sell you that as vacuum line. Fuel line has additional filaments in it- which you can see on the cut ends.

I got a bunch of silicon tubing from siliconintakes.com. There's a thread or two with a bunch of folks who've done a whole "conversion". Might be worth a search.

I don't see how that would affect the functionality of a vacuum line.

 

Functionality wise- not much different. Just not the right pony for the show.

 

It's close enough that you'd need a DNA test to see if it's the right breed, lol.

 

Pretty sure it goes to your evap canister, which can just be replaced by a breather filter if desired (might even be cheaper than a new hose)

 

Can't seem to find one in 8mm

 

Probably going to go the 'replace all vac hoses route'

I haven't had this vacuum line in my truck for at least 10 years and I don't notice any issues. I have repaired the evap casing when it broke though, and I just put a little filter on it right off the evap canister. Is that what you mean?

I believe that line goes to the vent side of the canister. By utilizing the air filter housing, the canister is never exposed to unfiltered air.

If you can't find the right diameter hose, a small heater hose coupler would work right there.

But if the other vacuum lines are cracked and brittle, I'd consider replacing all of them
