You are correct Toyota is using a very stiff resin, I wish the tabs were snapped on and made of a softer resin. I have also found that 1 out of 8 or so the left tab is slightly thinner than the right. I think the suppliers tool may have one cavity that isn’t cut in the tool steel correctly (my current running theory).

Update* we have plenty of the harnesses in stock, but won’t have more of the outlets in stock until ~Feb 25, 2022. I’ll update here when in stock, or you can buy the harness and pickup the outlet yourself from a local dealer or online (but you have to pay shipping.)

I'm interested, but curious on the reason Toyota reduced to 100W while in motion? Or to put it another way, is 400W while driving a liability?

Fair question, to answer please read a slightly modified quote explaining the impact of using this mod from one of the original creators of it.

“Somewhere, I’m sure a Toyota engineer calculated that powering a (very underpowered) inverter would produce unnecessary strain on the alternator when the truck is in motion — meaning when you’re slamming your brake booster, listening to Metallica on max volume, and simultaneously charging your Camp Battery Pack off the outlet…

In reality, 400W at 120V is only 3.5A. Reducing it to 100W only moves the needle by about 2.5A or so — that’s less strain than RGB rock lights thousands of guys run. Needless to say, in reality it is probably an inconsequential amount of current, and of the hundreds of people that have used this harness or (worse!) cut their factory wiring to perform the essence of this mod we haven’t seen any issues on TacomaWorld or other forums.

Still, mod at your own risk.”

question for the Guild Outfitters has you found anything to use as a spacer to take the slop out
when you install the plug? I know a glue gun will work. Or how thick does the space have to be?
I plan on putting the spacer on the inside where it is not visible. Would like to do it when installed
so don't have to remove the plug and possibly break the tab.

Silly question, but does doing this mod and adding the plug in the console allow you to still have power in the bed? I assume so because it is like a Y cable, but just wanted to make sure. Also, how much for shipping to Canada?

I still have power in my bed outlet after doing the install. The 400w mod works with that outlet also.

Unfortunately, Toyota is on a national backorder for the part. We’ve got orders in a few places but being told it could still be another 1-4 weeks before we have more. Behind the scenes we’re also looking at alternative outlets and an extension to work with the alternative connector. This will take a bit of time though as well. We hope the backstock improves soon on the oem part.

Depending on your location in Canada, I checked our prior orders and we’ve had 3 go to various parts of Canada for shipping between $23 and $35 CAD for this item. We allow you to choose between UPS or USPS options based on your address our system will automatically display your options available.

Ps. Yes; you can run both the bed or cab outlet, but the inverter output doesn’t change so you have to be aware of what you run at the same time bc the total max output of 400amps doesn’t change. Hope this helps.

The prototype spacer I’m working on is just a ‘plastic’ card I can order in bulk precut in a almost square “U” shape. |_| This would make a shim to slide in behind the trim but in between the oem outlet tabs and trim panel. Including a couple of these would allow people to wedge their unique slop with 1 or 2 slipped in. It continues to not seem exactly the same mm wall thickeness based on year and exact location picking for the outlet. If the ones I just ordered arrive and work how my mock up did I’ll make a signup any existing buyer can get one for free. So keep your fingers crossed. It shows 5-10 business days for the samples to arrive. So stay tuned sorry.

Good / bad news, bad news, we actually sold out of the 30” extensions but we have 40” extensions we are switching to (no cost change) that give you more freedom on where to put the interior outlet. These arrive to us by Wednesday 5/11 and will be express shipping all the open orders the same day for Wednesday / Thursday outbound to try and get the shipments caught up vs their original standard delivery. I will make a note to overnight yours Berk for our delay with your upcoming trip. You should see it by Friday 5/13.

I appreciate you looking out! I’m gonna try and mount it in the passenger footwell area. But doesn’t hurt to have options. Thanks for the help and taking care of your customers. I am sure I’ll be back for your switch plates.

I'm about to order this kit and wondering if you include any shims? Or are you still testing them?
