Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
To really answer the question, there isn't much of a basis for it in the US. By that I mean every high school has a football team (for the most part). You can find football all over the country. You can't with hockey accept for the north north east, some border states, and major metropolitan areas. Plus there are the season over laps. A lot of kids play multi-sports and hockey would overlap with basketball.

I wouldn't say Americans don't like hockey they just, as a majority, like football better. You guys up North grow up with hockey sticks in your hands. Down here it's a football for us.

I guess it's what you grow up with. I have been going to Browns' games since 1966. I was eight years old, and it's in my blood now. Probably a similar story you would tell about your passion for hockey.

I think that hockey translates much better to being there in person. It's a whole different game from a spectator perspective if you are there live. And if you don't understand the rules (off sides, for example) it complicates things. But I guess that argument can be made for almost any sport.

If you don't watch it often, you lose track of the puck, especially on TV. I remember the glowing puck with the trail on it. You die hards had to be ready to put you head through the wall with that experiment :frusty:

And the pauses in action that you refer to in football is all part of the cadence of the game for football fans. You watch the play, talk about the just completed play, have a slug of beer and then you're back focused on the field for the next one.

Now baseball...that's a whole different animal. Like watching paint dry for me.

Hockey is a great sport. I thank the sports god for Versus come playoff time ;)

I find that the reason that i never enjoyed football is that in Canada there is too many bleeding hearts:mad: that ruined it and created a pussy sport to try and counter act the "violence" in the sport. It's also happening to hockey in the junior and midget leagues with the implement of no hitting rules. I always enjoyed a good challenge with repercussions for not paying attention and not giving it 100% and with these rules now a days i don't think that i would enjoy hockey anymore.
Anyways how can you learn to get up and brush yourself off if you don't get hurt

Your point is irrelevant , the question wasn't " Why don't you like football ? "
