With that said, just stay with Daylight Saving Time, to go back and forth every year is asinine IMO. I’m up at 0430 regardless every day.

time for a sonotube mailbox! And call your township. Despite what they say if you give them a hard time they’ll pay for replacement. Just like those idiot dump trucks that say “not responsible for damage”, the hell you aren’t!

To me it doesn’t make sense. Pick one time and end it, ‘twas invented for farmers without lights a hundred years ago. Now those fellows are out plowing with LEDs on their tractors. There are several areas which don’t “respect” daylights savings time I believe out in Arizona. If everyone went with it they’d be forced to change and get rid of it. Getting up at 430am it’s dark regardless of the daylights savings time, so it doesn’t matter much to me either way other than something to waste time talking about twice a year and a reminder I forgot to change my smoke detecting batteries. Working nightshift on the spring forward has a very small added benefit as well :)

    Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!

We ended up with about 6" of snow - ground was warm enough that it had an inch of slush on the bottom when I cleared it. The snowblower didn't like that part too much. Even after clearing it, there is a glaze of crunchy ice now. It should go fast with the predicted temps for the week, though.

    Stay warm & safe!!

6" to 8" here hard to tell with how hard the wind was blowing .

The snow blew through the 1/16 " gap in the door and piled upon the floor.

as it was so warm i shut the heat *** This was left over when the electric failed!!
Many years ago after like the third time the mail box was destroyed I said no more got a PO box worked great with my life style of working on the road.

On those long jobs I had a friend do the mail pick up sort the junk mail .

Tell me the amounts of the Bills and I would mail the checks from where I happened to be.

I agree either lights on more in the morning or a night it saves really nothing.

Over the years my neighbors milking cows did the milking the same time no matter what Mr Clock said

The wife and I shoveled the deck, walkways and driveway by hand. This is the last time I do it this winter. LOL. I told the wife, let's just plow through it, but we do get deliveries, I have to walk to the end of the drive for the mail and the grandson has to walk to the end of the drive to get the bus, so I gues we had to shovel it.

    Morning Pennsylvania :hattip:
We got around 8” of snow . It was so windy it’s hard to tell . Couple feet at bottom of driveway where it always drifts and parts of lawn bare from 50 mph winds .Good thing I got the blower out about 5 o’clock yesterday . I had to man handle it to get it through the drifts . Tall and heavy stuff .

True, but I have to go slower than I used to, even just a few years ago. That heavy snow is a killer.

When I worked for the county highway dept. Every snow storm or plow season if we took out a mailbox we would come back in the spring and replace every single one. And if the house put a new one in before we got out there the county would reimbursed them.

Yeah this stuff was heavy and wet, and when the plow tosses it up it carries a lot of inertia.

The plow broke my mailbox off years ago. Of course it was winter so I wasn't about to dig a hole and reset a new one, so I piled some large rocks on 3 sides to hold it up. That worked so well I never replaced them. Now when they knock the mailbox down I just stand it back up and put the rocks back.

Must be warmer where you are than it is here, especially with the fresh 5 inches of snow and 18F this morning. It is forecast to go to near 70 by Friday, but these below freezing events seem to be putting spring on pause. I'll stick with the equinox as the start.

    More sun maybe?

I'm south of PA and closer to the water. I got mostly rain yesterday, turning to snow then a few minutes of sun followed by a lighter squal. Then the temperature dropped snd the wind picked up. Below frezzing this morning and the sun has been out all day.
