How do I get rid of this Entune "update required" crap??? Every entune.jpg time the truck is started this stupid crap pops up. I've "updated" 500 times and still the same irritating bullshit.

Never had an issue with the update screen going away after a successful update. 500 times seems a bit of a stretch. When was the last time you actually went through a full update without turning the truck off?

Well, maybe 500 times is a bit of a stretch. I've hit the "download now" at least 30 times, then it says "update successful" or something like that, next time I start the truck up there it is again

See the details and take not of the version number. Update it, then when it asks to update again, see if the version actually changes.

I’m guessing this is a new issue I’m not aware of.

Awesome (not really) but now you confirmed with us there’s actually an issue.

Have you tried factory resetting the head unit?

Don't you hate this kind of garbage from Toyota, its like they think they own the vehicle and are just letting you borrow it.
No fuck you it's not "required"! It's my truck and I'll say what's required so fuck off!

Like when you bring it in for a rear window rattle and they flash your tcm cuz tsb but you never complained about your trans cuz you recently spent $300 for a tune that fixed what Toyota can't.
    Fuck off its MY truck!

    /rant....sorry!

@OP I got no idea man.

Sometimes it just amazes me with the amount of complaining that goes on around here about Toyota and how so many things are wrong with this truck that people actually own them.

While I agree... he's got a point. If you don't want to update, you shouldn't need to. It's not exactly a secret that Toyota dropped the ball on the whole Entune thing especially when you factor in needing a subscription for basic stuff.

I agree, Toyota has never been known for being on the cutting edge of technology especially with the infotainment system. I would think, though, that since it's a well known issue people would take that into consideration when deciding to purchase the truck.

I'm a software consultant, and when a software update is required it usually means that some functionality won't work properly if you don't do it. Unless you read the release notes you won't know, so just skipping it wouldn't usually be in the user's best interest.

I read the posts, both yours and the OP's. He has a problem with the version number not updating which is why the notification keeps coming back. He will either need to call Toyota to get a workaround or take it to the dealer let them deal with it if a system reset doesn't fix the problem.

I had no intention of being insulting. It's just that I read so many posts that complain about so many things being sub standard I honestly don't get why some people have these trucks.

Yet you quoted me where I didn't complain about anything related to our trucks, in fact my current Tacoma in my opinion is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. My complaint was directed solely at Toyota corporate and their incessant belief that they retain some sort of ownership of the vehicles they've sold to private parties.

But I hear ya man there is lots of complaints about our trucks here yet those same peeps will go buy another one anyhow. At least direct your observation at the people doing that whining.

My apologies then. I obviously misinterpreted your comment about the need for a tune. My bad.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I believe there’s a setting to disable OTA updates. I’d check under the general tab in settings
