    I would say 75% 2WD, 24.5% 4WD, and 0.5% who did 2wd to 4wd conversion.

    i have one 2wd and 1 4wd

I would guess 10% 2wd here in Canada. Don't even sell them here anymore.

From my general observations, I see maybe 80-90% 4wd for personal vehicles. I do see a ton of 2wd fleet vehicles, like pool cleaning services, pest control, etc.

Thanks guys. My new to me is 2WD. I’m in the Deep South so the need for 4W is not as dire. Just need it for the pups and to haul stuff. My incoming IS500 isn’t meant for such things.

I’ve never seen a 2wd Tacoma, but I have owned 3 2wd pickups in my life. Never again.

Overall I'm sure there is some statistic Toyota has or has released, but for each person it varies where you live. Here in Colorado you would be silly to buy a truck that isn't 4x4.

A beer takes the over on 2wd. I bet it's closer to 50/50 than most of us think.

Here in Metro Atlanta I'd say it's 50/50. I grew up in farm country in South Georgia and all you really need down there is a 2wd. In the city up here, well, the same. I see a few TRDs 2wds around. I have a 4wd, but don't truly need it except for jumping a curb or two at Costco...

    Since it's a Tacoma and 4wd is selectable, I would say 2WD 100% and 4WD 80% selectable. Just a guess.

Purely regional. North of the Mason-Dixon I'd guess 80-20 for 4WD. That, and depending if your locale has access to nature's playgrounds (dunes, coastline, mountains, etc..) would also lean it towards the 4WD camp. JMO...:notsure:

I won’t pretend to have a statistical answer, but here in Arkansas I’d guess it’s 60-75% 4WD. I originally leased a 2WD to see if I’d like owning a midsize truck (I do). Just ordered my 4WD a few weeks ago. I’m now paying attention a lot more. You still see a lot of 2WD models in the city. I kind of wonder if the car-frame FWD options from Ford (Maverick) and others will cannibalize sales of 2WD models of the Tacoma, Frontier, Ranger, and Colorado. If I don’t want a 4WD truck and a V6, I think I want to pay sub-$20k for the Maverick.

I'd say if you can bite the bullet and save for the 4wd its better resale wise and for those percent of situations off road where you need 4wd to make things easy

I think you need a few more 0s before that 5. .5% is still a lot.

That 2wd to 4wd is in all honesty like 1/10,000 truck owners most of them wouldn't want to deal with all that extra work you can get from the factory

2WD to 4WD conversion is probably closer to 0.05%. Maybe even 0.005%.
