I love this. Bravo, nice work!

This could work as an embroidered patch, or PVC ranger eye or a woven design, easily.

I didn’t know him at all but I know how a death can impact a family. I would purchase one just to show support but not at a 25 dollar price point as I don’t collect patches or stickers. I think a lot of members would get behind this at a lower price. Just my thoughts but better to sell 300 at 10 dollars then 15 or 20 at 25.

Keep in mind, whoever does end up printing these, keep your sale/cost records for the patches, showing that this is 100% charity, just in case WB (or whoever) comes calling about useage of the VH designs.

I'll buy either way regardless to support his memory and the family, though my personal preference has always been woven, (they feel more like art to me than a mass produced product) ranger eyes I'm okay with PVC as I can get away with wearing them on my work hat and if they do get dirty I can clean them.

I feel like Rick deserves a full size woven though.

On that note however, nobody knows what he deserves more than his family, has anyone contacted the family to see if this idea is okay by them before it snowballs further?

I'd hate to get vested in this and find out it's something that his family would rather not do especially at this time.

Off Topic, how does one clean a woven moral patch should one need to be cleaned?

Take it to a dry cleaner? Feel like they might look at me funny especially with some of the ones I have.

Oxi-clean makes things much cleaner, don’t use it on leather or animal based things, it will eat it up. I have used it on baseball hats, make the solution, dip, little rub here and there let it hang dry. Hat looks brand new.

Dunno how the setup would go on the back end but there could always be a minimum cover price with the option to donate more in the payment to the family at checkout. :notsure:

PVC is THE most hardy of any material to have a patch made out of, besides something special like metal or leather. Just some rubbing alcohol will clean them lickety-split. I have a lot of ranger eyes that I put on my wallet, water bottle and keychain that get dirty but it's easy to clean them. Darker resins don't show dirt that easily so a dark design won't be as obvious when they get dirty. PVC is rubber and can take a decent amount of abuse where embroidered/woven can get snagged and messed up if you're not careful.

Woven and embroidered patches are made from polyester threads. Definitely trickier to clean. I'd use warm water with dishsoap and a soft rag and try to gently clean. Depends on what kind of soiling we're talking about, too.

I think @Phessor said they've been in contact with Rick's widow so I think that's covered?
I'm sure there's a lot of activity going on but I'm sure details/updates will be shared.

I have been known to forget what's on my headliner when bombing down trails with the windows down and have had a little mud sling in the cab, so far been lucky and haven't noticed anything but I'd be pretty pissed if some off my patches got ruined by Georgia Clay colored spots.

It's kind of up to whoever handles the logistics to get the patches made.

MOQ for most patches is 100, but you can get less except the price per patch goes up.
Think of it this way: Typically people selling velcro backed patches in limited runs have a retail price point of $15, +shipping. A patch run can go for a few hundred bucks depending on the vendor. You want to sell them ALL, especially for this cause. Ideally as quickly as possible. There are other expenses besides postage like packaging and also payment portal transfer fees ($0.49 + 3.49% per transaction) so ideally all that stuff gets covered. 100% of profits should be going to Rick's family, obviously.

I think doing extra donations is a good idea but probably through a recognized platform like GoFundMe. Could be "tricky", otherwise.
