    I don't think they are.
But I also think that the vehicle has to have a lot to do with it. I've gotten 10 years each out of the three batteries in my '93 Civic in 300k and 29 years so far.

Hot weather is harder on wetcell batteries than cold weather is.

I am running a wire tapped into the center console USB ports. Have to install it yet - have the wire ready but it's been too cold here to play around in the garage.

Yesterday I finally put in my milled accumulator for the delete, flashed the tsb update on the ecu, and today finally got around to washing the winter crap off. Was a good weekend 2309F145-710D-471B-B1FC-8D2D97A937C5.jpg

The single strut kit works very well. It won't torque unless you try to pull the hood down from the side opposite the strut. Even then, it will deflect slightly but will close just fine. Most folks pull down in the middle of the hood, and you won't see any torquing/flexing if you do that.

But my '17 wheel control MATCHES the radio read-out.
Wheel has volume left to right; radio shows volume increments changing left to right.
Wheel has channel selection up / down; radio shows frequencies changes up / down.

Perfect match, Toyota Engineers knew what they were doing.

    Far to much money spent.
The radio in the Corolla is the same layout with a different steering wheel switch for volume and frequencies changes.

I’m curious if this would work/PnP with the @MESO Total Tail S2…?

I had what felt like you let off the throttle then back on it over and over at around 25-40 mph, the update just about eliminated it for me.

Would have to pull up the scematics to see how the resistors compare. Just like the cruise control, the left D-pad is a single 12v in and each switch has a different resistor. The control module just picks up on the different voltage coming out of the PCB to determine what you wanted it to do. So as long as say Seek+ on both the Corolla and Tacoma are both 500ohms (I have no idea what the actual value is) then it would probably work.

My thought was to dig into it with a multimeter, then breadboard-out the values and tie that into an arduino. Basically I'd hit the button in the direction it should go, then the arduino would pick up the incorrect output and convert it to the value the ECU is expecting for my intent.

After a couple of close calls over the years with Atlanta/San Francisco/Seattle area drivers, I finally decided to mount the dash nice and discretely behind the rearview mirror with minimal windshield obstruction.
