I've installed on board air and have mounted the air hoses underneath the truck. Everything works. The last part of the set up is this: I want the end of the hoses at each wheel to retract up into the truck. The air chuck ends at the rear are run through a hole in the frame near each wheel and they won't go through the hole and the other end connects to a T mounted to the spare tire cross member. I was trying to use gear retractors to pull the ends back into the truck when done airing my tires up or down. I was thinking I could use 2 retractors to create an S when retracted and a straight line when pulled out. But I can't seem to get that to work. One is attached at the point in the hose that stops at the hole but the second one is attached before that to finish pulling in the length but it gets stopped at the hole. The length of hose that needs to be retracted is about 48".

Any other ideas I can try to retract and to secure the hose up in my truck? TIA

4’ I’d just coil it up and secure with Velcro straps or those heavy rubber coated wires ties.

My rv trailer has little pockets for hose. Fab a little plastic box that it will automatically coil up into, port it with this hatch:

You could even simplify it to have one or two terminals connected to long hoses instead of four terminals.

Just my .02 cents but be careful of lines hanging below the rest of the truck as they will get caught when off-roading. You might also look at insulating any line that might rub on the suspension as they could wear through.

totally agree. That is why I am trying to figure out a way for the lines to recoil either up into the truck out of the way.

    Sure thing.

On second thought, the RV exterior water hose pocket could be modified for even easier storage.

I think my preferred method would be to use the bed side cubby but that makes recoiling it from one side to the other (left I believe?) potentially damaging as it would pass over a hot exhaust and numerous metal brackets etc. Next choice would be to buy a premade cubby and attach it somehow... Hard choice because one hit on a rock and anything plastic is pretty well done for. I don't know if this is something that's routinely made but maybe a stiff rubber box? Flexible when thin, but crazy durable and abrasion/crush resistant.

I think I like the idea in the post above the most though as it appeared as soon as I posted my reply, one mounted at each corner with coiled hose. @Rock Lobster

I replaced the rear hoses with coiled hoses and that presented a new set of issues - mainly the coils getting stuck on things as I pull it out to the tires.

I ran a single line to the back bumper and carry a hose in my tool box that will reach all 4 tires on the truck and also the tires on my trailer. Easier to do, fewer points for leakage or wear through.
If you must have air at both sides without additional hose, you can get a couple HF hose reels and mount them on the side of the bed (as high up as can get them) with a chuck stop to keep the hose end low enough to grab.
