Neat. Looks like it's been well loved.

Admittedly though the surface rust on the water heater hatch makes me mildly curious on when the sacrificial anode was last changed, if ever.

Maybe it failed before and was replaced?

Water anodes are supposed to be changed annually, a harsh lesson I learned myself on my 4th year of ownership. :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

The hatch doesn't indicate what's going on inside obviously, but if I were doing maintenance as I should, I would have replaced or repainted the hatch on first sign of rust.

Just mildly speculating into someone else's business. :cookiemonster:

The last time I saw an older Toyota pickup with no radio from the factory was in Big Sur, California back in 2009; These guys pulled up next to me at the Wawa when I was on my way to a car show and I struck up a conversation. This truck is no-frills and has literally no amenities whatsoever except a heater and power brakes (both of which I'm pretty sure were standard in 1989); No A/C, no radio, and not even a rear bumper!

No radio; The last 33 years must have been pretty boring!

That's an old WaWa, might be the original. Old sign and all.

And no public restrooms! The original Wawa was in Delaware County and was demolished a few years ago... :(

Saw this on the highway somewhere in Northern California during a family vacation back in March 2009!

I actually found pictures of the Toyota truck in question, taken during a trip to California back in 2009! Like the white 1989 I saw a couple of weeks ago, this red truck has no A/C, no rear bumper, and not even a radio!

I was actually taking pictures of a red RC 2WD Tacoma that I saw in the parking lot when another guy saw my TOYOTA hat and pointed me towards this truck.

1989 Toyota 4x4 with a custom wood bed; It apparently has a remanufactured 2.4L with less than 40K miles. It also has factory A/C! This truck seemed to be mint, though I didn't look at the frame, and I believe that the bed was likely replaced because it rusted out...
