ECGS Bushing - Is it a must?

I have a 2" bilstein OME lift and I got the vibration. It was only slight, but it was there. I am of the mindset that if it doesnt need it, it doesn't need it. but if it makes the vibration, then it needs it.

 

From what I understand, this bushing should be installed from the factory instead.

Was your vibration ye ole 30-10? It gets pretty substantial at around 15mph, can feel it through the steering wheel and brake/clutch pedal. I am dropping off the truck this Wednesday to Rock Your 4x4 like you recommended for the bushing whether the dealership fixes it or not. I just dropped it off today at the dealership after hours for the appointment tomorrow morning for them put the OEM shim on that they took off when installing my TRD lift. There was a blue off road on the lot that I referenced about the shim in case they don't know what I'm talking about.

 

Nah, no need for the bushing from the factory. What needs to happen is better carrier bearing pre load on the front diff from the factory.

 

Or just a solid bushing. Lol

 

That sounds like a great way too budy. You would think that TRD factory lifts would be like stock or better and there would be joint angles worked into the thing, but I guess not.

 

I did the TRD lift which is basically 5100's. I only did mine at 1.5" lift and had the vibe instantly after the lift. Its super annoying but I havnet got around to changing the bushing yet. I have it sitting in my tool box but not sure if I will end up replacing it before I trade the truck in

 

~5000 miles on ~2.5" lift with Icon coilovers and 33's here with no vibration issues so far. Definitely plan on installing the ECGS business when it comes time to regear though.

Did a Ecgs bushing yesterday on a stock height truck with 80k miles. Needle bearing was pretty damn loose.

If you felt the difference between the axle side play with the needle bearing and the side play with the bushing installed, even stock, you would wonder why Toyota uses the needle bearing. I only lifted 1.8" and felt that putting in the bushing was well worth the little effort. I was already half way there, might as well do it while I am there.

 

well who knows when. I just put an order for a Bronco in at the end of Jan. so I might still have it for another 8months

 

Does anyone know if toyota has a fix for this? The only reason I ask is the trd lift is in the range that would need these bushings, and the 2022 pro is higher too and in the range of needing this.

 

Toyota does have a fix for this. It's called "Well if you don't want lifted truck problems, don't lift your truck"

Not going to lie Toyota engineering is far and away the best out there but there are some weird things they do that just make no sense. Like these needle bearings... Been an issue for 20 years they still haven't fixed the design.

 

What Im saying is that a truck straight from the toyota factory (2022 trd pro) is going to have needle bearing issues, and if you install toyotas OEM lift kit (on a non-pro) that is covered under their warranty its going to have needle bearing issues.

 

Just Toyota being 20 years behind other 4x4 manufacturers

 

So anyone who buys a new 2022 pro is going to have to replace needle bearings every 10k miles or buy a aftermarket solution?

 

no apparently the Pro has a different part number for the front diff vs the non Pro. I asked this a long time ago and someone put the part numbers up and the Pro was different. I think it was something shared with the Lexus front diff or something.

 

2018 DCSB with 40k on it. Did a 3/2 preload spring spacer lift. Didn't make it 1/2 a block and noticed the GRRRRrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrRRRRRR. Ordered the ECGS bushing and it went away immediately.

Yes, do it.

 

Then we can switch over to people who buy toyotas own lift kit. Seems like a OEM lift kit causing needle bearing failures should come with a OEM fix for the issue too.
