    Not than anyone asked me…….

I think they should have some kind of “Stoopid hiker” law. If you go hiking on a trip that’s closed and cause a rescue everyone was trying to avoid. That’s some flat out bullshit and you need help you gotta pay.

like the stoopid motorist law, get stuck in a wash thats closed you gotta pay.

In this case I agree with @BillW

I think its open for hiking if your competent. However him being from NY and sea level. Couldnt hack it, and didn't plan accordingly. So, I give him a mulligan on the first one. The second day, and needing a helo? Na bitch. Your a dumbass and gotta pay for that one.

Ive got a friend who has worked SAR for an AZ County for a while.
(In AZ SAR is managed through the Counties Sheriff)

he actually had some interesting points about why He thinks they shouldn't charge for rescues.

    1. A lot of their "real" rescues are body recoveries, which is hard for everyone. The BS rescues are a lot of their callouts, but they provide for more training, and keep the volunteers active (inactive volunteers disappear quickly). On top of giving them more wins than losses

    2. Most of the idiot rescue stories are embarrassingly dumb, and it is easy to monday morning quarterback how that person could have easily self rescued / provided self aid. However the important part of the story is that they stopped, sat on their ass, and called 911, instead of doing more stupid shit when they are already in a panic, thus making things drastically worse.

(example: the guy whose car dies 2 miles from a highway, so you think " why didnt he just walk to the highway and thumb a ride", well based on the compass there is about a 75% chance dipshit walks the wrong way away from the road until he passes out from heat exhaustion and his phone dies. Now instead of searching a 10 - 20 square mile grid for a car, you are looking at a hundred square mile grid looking for a body passed out in the sand)

I could see not charging when the cost is just the gas for vehicles, first aid supply, and the couple salaried guys OT pay.
but it is a different story when it is a helicopter ride that cost more than a car.

Personally I could see identifying the places with frequent fliers (Camelback, Grand Canyon, Humphreys, ect) and posting signs there that by entering you acknowledge you will pay double the cost of your rescue. That would fund rescues for the rest of the state lol.

Custom shock builds from him I hear as well. And this bumper was so light the truck didn’t even sag 1/8” when installed.

I remember there being a lot of knowledgeable guys here. Have a line on a 97 4runner 4x4 parts rig. Would I be able to grab the rear axel and swap into my 99 2wd 5lug?

Exactly what @prise said. The gearing will be different aswell but wont be a problem since you dont have a front diff to match gearing to.

That the @WarFab Armor chop kit? Came out great. Would be a fun project to build a bumper off that kit.

In short, yes. Any issues are solved with a financial commitment.

The question is…..why? What are you looking to gain?

Sorry I missed you yesterday man! Sister in law was in town and the wife wanted us to go to brunch before I could get everything cleaned up from the weekend camp.
