I have an 06 Tacoma. I’ve noticed the engine cover making a noise. Are there any rubber grommets, spacers or washers that might be missing to keep the cover from rumbling? The two rubber bumpers in the back are intact and appear to be in good condition but nothing under the two nuts that hold it down.
I have moved it around and sometimes get less noise but haven’t been able to stop it completely. I was wondering if there is something missing from the cover?

    Thanks!

Ok, looks like it might not be the engine cover but the breather cover. Has anyone else had problems with this?

My 06 Tacoma V6 is starting to sound like a low rumble from the bottom side of the engine? I change the oil every 5,000 miles religiously. Now at less than 170,000 miles.

One thing that can make noise is VSV tick, fixed by rubber washers mod

Sounds like this would be a tick when mine is a rumble. I tried to adjust the breather shroud several times and may have finally stopped the rumble. I guess it’s just getting old! Rather not try to replace it as I’m sure it will be $$$$$$ expensive.

The noise is coming from the air intake at the passenger fender. Insulation wears out and it becomes plastic against metal fender. Replace insulation or wedge intake hose tight to fender and stop vibrations

She’s fixed! I guess the air filter housing needed a little adjustment! It sounded like it was the top cover at first but after further inspection it was the breather.
Not to see if I can rebuild the automatic shifter!
