Took down the vinyl soffit in the garage today. Gonna make it much easier to hang the garage door tracks and opener, not to mention lighting.

Some funky colors it had been painted over the years. Now I gotta remove all the nails still up...

Nice job on the house Adam. Throw a coat of white paint and up there before you start mounting hangars. Will make a big difference with brightness.

Thanks Mark! Been a busy month and a half let me tell ya!

Yea, I need to get down to Lowe's before work one day and grab a gallon of cheap white satin exterior. Some are gonna frown on that as it's cheap paint, but honestly in this case it'll be just fine. I'm estimating the door getting here middle of May, so I should have some time.

That'll be just fine for that application. Get a 1/2" nap roller and it'll go on a little thicker, and it doesn't need to be perfect anyway. Wear a hat as it tends to splatter more than a standard 3/8".

Some minor improvements being made in my basement these days. I hate concrete with every fiber of my being. Oh and plumbing, I hate that too. Can’t wait to start the fun stuff haha

Too late; already got paint splattered all over my beard and hair just talking about the subject.

Got alot of scraping to do as the old paint has chipped quite a bit and I'll be taking every precaution as it's likely lead and oil prime the bare spots. Got to oil prime the trim on the outside before caulking so two birds stoned, one joint. Gonna bring back memories, used to paint houses on the side back when I lived in Mississippi for some extra spending cash. Guess this is gonna start me painting the doors and garage door siding as well. Front door is gonna need to be completely stripped via heatgun. That'll be a fun project...

I’m adding a shower drain as the person who built my house decided a sink and toilet were sufficient and that a shower or tub was unnecessary. Why would any one rough in a sink and toilet but not a shower especially when it’s going to be buried in concrete?!
You can see in the first pic they left an opening for what I thought was a shower drain but upon further inspection it was just a hole. So I got to make it a much larger hole

Sometimes that type of stuff can literally come down to permitting etc. The total water usage of a 1/2 bath versus a full bath, or even if it's in a basement the conversion to a basement suite/living area. Garages sometimes run into that. Plumbing for a slop sink and toilet vs a full bathroom...

I have a couple corded Fein Multimasters I've probably had for 10-15 years which have been great , I only bought this one because I find myself more and more using cordless tools only to the point that having to go find an electrical cord now seems like such a pain in the ass and the rest of my cordless gear is all on the Makita 18V platform so I have a bunch of batteries already

Honestly the only reason I bought corded was I needed it then and couldn’t wait, only cordless in stock was a Dewalt which is what I usually buy I really wanted a case and it was bare tool. I will add I like the case mine came with haha

Painting a ceiling is a pain in the ass, get the roller dripping and it still only covers like 3 square feet.

Thought the room would take me like an hour took me closer to 5.

But it has now been Kilz PVA'ed with one thick ish coat, should I do another?

I have more than enough Kilz to do a 2nd coat if I should.

Otherwise I am running to the Depot to return some stuff and getting my black paint shake up for the third time.

    Going up:

Just imagine if you had used Kilz 2, 3 sq ft would be turned into around 1/2 a sq ft lol.

I did 2 coats on my ceiling, but only cut in the edges with one coat. Both areas covered just fine with the color coat. :notsure: Id say look over it real good for thin spots and just send it with the one coat.
