I could use some patience myself, I’m estimating 8 hours worth of sanding on the outside, another 8 hours+ on the inside since I can’t use the orbital sander in the two ends on the interior.

I’ve got the side facing me done with one pass of 80 grit but if you look close you’ll see the one section I missed. (and I’m entirely sold in the sanding mesh pads vs the typical 80 grit sand I’ve used previously on the sander). Need another pass at 150 on this side, and both 80 and 150 on the other side. My entire neighborhood smells like cedar.

Do you guys have any strong opinions on what miter saw I should get?

I need to cut 4/4 walnut to make a wedding arch, some crown moulding to finish my bar area, and inevitably will probably have to cut some fence posts to replace some boards.

Any input is appreciated, I will hang up and listen.

If you are planning on using it for thick stock, like a 4x4 fence post, Id get the 12" blade. Dual bevel is very nice when doing crown, especially if you dont do it very often like me and tend to make a couple cuts backwards) I'm probably in the minority, but I don't see the need for the sliding version, I have a 12" non slider and it works just fine for 98% of everything i need. I couldn't justify the 150-200 price jump for the sliding version.

Get the sliding model, if you have room for it. It was just to big for my small shop.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Put me down as a dual bevel sliding 12" model as well. I've only used a Dewalt so that is the extent of my experience. I hear the Makita is nice as well

I've used DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Ryobi. I have a makita compressor, but their price point is just too high for me in this particular instance.

I think I will go with DeWalt; I've been happy with their impact and will never buy Ryobi again after their junk drills.

i have the dewalt dws780 and I like it. Just put a new blade on it the other day and now I’m even happier with it. Went with a cmt 72 tooth. I have it on the dewalt folding stand with the FastCap best fence system on it with built in measurement and adjustable stop blocks, and chop saw hood. It’s a sweet (still portable) setup, but I’m currently building a miter saw station.

If the arbor was "crooked" you likely wouldn't be able to get the fence/mitre slot remotely square. If the arbor was bent you'd have one hell of a wobble to the blade as it spun. Looks like @wilcam47 figured it out and luckily it being the easier option to diagnose.
