Hey guys getting close to buying a 18’ trd sport 6MT- anything to look out for? Any k own issues? I’ve heard things about rear end problems in the 3rd gens. Currently own a 2nd gen 5 lug auto but I’ve owned a couple 1st gen manuals. Do the manual owners have any regrets? Reason I ask it’s a 2 owner truck with 27k miles. Seems odd but there are many reasons to get rid of a vehicle so probably not a big deal. Need to go test drive it. Thanks

Bought my 2018 TRD sport 4X4 with a 6-speed new... Love the 6-speed and haven't had any problems except for the recalls... Fixed without issue and I'm still driving happily. No rear end issues yet and I've had gears done as well as the locker installed... Everything good..

Were the recalls fuel pump and master cylinder?

As long as you don't live in a big city with mass amounts of traffic, stop lights and stop signs, the MT is the way to go.
If you do, then the automatic might be the better choice.
I have a manual nissan and a auto 2017 Tacoma. I also live in a big city, stop sign every block or a stop light every other block.

They are really rare around where I live in VA- but it’s gotten to where manuals aren’t selling well. They’ve had the truck a couple months surprisingly, and it’s clean

No I don’t have much stop and go traffic. Last manual was an accord 2.4 which I miss

I drove my Nissan 2004 frontier dcsb last week.... I miss driving a manual. I have owned 2 Honda crx's, a Subaru gls, and 2 rangers... all manuals. But once I couldn't get out of 3rd gear 85% of the time. It's time for an automatic. This nissan will squeal tires in first and second and chirp tires in 3rd to 4th.:anonymous:

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
Have a 2018 manual and would not change. Third manual Tacoma I've bought, had one of each gen. I drive in city in stop and go traffic and pull regularly with it. There is no way I would go auto.

One thing that has taken a bit to get used to on the third gen is it likes to rev more than a gen 2. There is a distinct power bump around 2.5k. After you get used to that it's a fun truck to drive. Also do the two lol mod, t makes backing a trailer much easier on rough ground.

if you're really into enjoying the MT experience on this truck, the general opinion among owners here is it'll take a little work, a little time, maybe a tune as well.. at some point the truck really comes alive and is super fun to drive.

The accumulator delete and a tune will make a big difference in the performance of the truck.

Seems like the 3.5L is better suited for a manual due to its power band and revier nature. That’s what I’m looking for a fun truck to drive.

As previously stated get a tune to bring out the zip, can’t speak to the ADM just yet but that’s next on my docket

I’ve also got clutch squeak as P.O. Didn’t do the TSB in time, so I invested in some grease and it seems to be just fine now

    Just getting started.
Got my 2018 two months ago and just got the fuel pump and brake light recall done today; I've loved every minute in this truck.

Other than you becoming a smug bastard cause you're so cool, I love the MT.

Yeah I could see how AT would be irritating if the tranny wanted to shift before getting up in revs, that's where the power is.
