What's the best TACOMA lettering?

What's are some of the best quality products on Amazon for adding black lettering onto the tailgate? I don't think I want anything that's plastic...and gloss black is probably best to avoid issues with car wax.

 

Stay away from the metal/aluminum "Tacoma" tailgate inserts. I had a set where the finish lasted a year before flaking/bubbling off. OEM inserts work great and look the best.

For the black overlays, I just went OEM on eBay, so can't comment on Amazon quality there.

 

Hard to go wrong here man, they are all about the same. Just make sure that they spell "Tocoma" correctly.

Well, I ordered something off Ebay....say's Tundra. It should work.

 

Toyota actually makes those ridiculous inserts?

 

For a very high price.

 

Tufskinz is what I went with. Have had them for almost five years and they still look great.

 

I got these. No issues with Montana weather after one winter. Half the price of others.

In all seriousness, I removed stickers and everything else on pretty much every vehicle I've ever owned. On this one, only thing I removed was the V6 emblem on the back and added the black inserts. IMO, a little contrast on these trucks isn't bad. It could be worse... they could have dented in the bedside ones like the Pro's have. I think that looks terrible. I'd rather have a decal similar to the one on the hood skewp than the bedside indent.

 

They both look great.

 

I originally had the metal ones from Amazon and they looked great. But I had a lady back into my lowered tailgate and put a nice baseball size dent in it and her insurance company bought me a new tailgate. The Toyota bodyshop used the OEM letter inserts when they did the work.

The OEM letters look great too. The only difference I noted between the OEM letters and the ones from Amazon is the OEM letters are less thick if that makes sense. They are 3D but don't stick out near as far as the 3D ones from Amazon.

But are the OEM letters worth the extra cost over the cheaper ones from Amazon? I would say probably not but I guess only time will tell!

 

i purchased metal ones on Amazon that are glass black, but gave them away as my truck is black so i ordered raised distressed American flag letters from a vinyl website.

 

I got these off of Etsy for like $15.
