Total noob here as far as lifts goes. 21 SR5, and I just hate how the front of my Tacoma just dives down. Looking to get a 2” lift in the front just to level it out. I’m reading through other threads, and I’m not sure what needs to be done to the rear to accommodate for the front lift (if anything at all). Also what kind of shops should I look into to have this lift installed? Recommendations on leveling kits besides the billsteins? Thanks!

Don’t do spacers. 2” in the front is good for leveling. Use a quality suspension shop.

So I would just leave the rears alone? Completely stock? Any recommendations as far as quality suspension?

Taggin this. I'm looking at doing this as well and cant seem to find any reason why this small of a lift using spacers that doesn't effect coilover preload would be bad.

A 1/2 inch spacer is not going to cause any of the problems that a 2 or 3 inch spacer will. Rough ride and limiting the down travel.

This. We all hate spacers, but if you are looking to level, all you need is that minimum.

That said, you could easily do suspension yourself for the cost of having someone put in spacers. This is why Bilsteins are recommended by so many people. For the cost of the pucks, and the work, you could just install the shocks yourself in about an hour with minimal tools.

OP, have you priced the bilsteins compared to some pucks and labor?

Sounds like you agree that this 1/2" spacer will cause no harm whats so ever.

Bilstiens are recommended because they are cheap( compared to icon,, fox, etc) and slightly better than a spacer. Fact is $75 for a small spacer kit vrs $900 for replacement coilovers.

Most people are too chicken shit to do work on their own trucks. In this case the Bilstiens are more cost effective. If you can turn a wrench then the spacer is much more cost effective for the same thing.

I have no idea how much it would cost to buy, and installed. If it is that simple to install I’m sure I can do it myself. Just need to look it up. Thanks a lot!

Last question. If I went ahead, and decided to go with the bilsteins. With your knowledge could I get away with just installing them in the front only, and not have to install the a set of shocks in the rear (I’m hoping the rear stocks) would not need to replaced as well)

They dont need to but the ride is better if you do all four.

I honestly can't answer that. I went a different route. I'm sure someone with a bilstein setup will chime in for you here soon though ;)

I think he is referring to the level of lift. As in will it cause a rake, or is there a bilstein that levels with the back. I am unsure of this but I thought that was the point of the bilsteins.
