You know, those mildew stains look way worse in photos. I think I'll head down to Bass Pro and see what the have for canvass cleaner.

Edit: going to put in some cleaning time and repost tent in FS section

    Arkansas Folks,

A very specific question: In the Buffalo National River Wilderness Area, off of 43 on the road that would take you to the Hemmed In Hollow TH (2800) there is a ford between Erbie Horse Camp and Erbie. Is it a difficult deep ford, or one of those concrete things? upload_2022-3-14_19-45-33.jpg

    upload_2022-3-14_19-45-33.jpg

Looking to be there in a few days now and looking to camp in that area-Erbie.

    Thanks

    Pat

When I was there last spring, the West access was a slick muddy mess. Coming from the East (the way I went out) was maintained FS roads.

    It’s a local hangout, but quiet mid-week.

Don't know anything about Arkansas dirt, but my imagery is that all the roads down that way are all going to be slick muddy messes. All I can hope for is that the weather takes the week I am visiting off from rain/snow and warms up!

The road to Hemmed In Hollow from Compton is dry. Muddy farther to the East. The crossing depends on the weather this week…rises fast, but drains fast.

Have you done Dixon ford? I hear its "scratchy with mud holes" but wondering about the actual crossing.

We were just there in December and camped at the horse camp. Actually not a bad camping spot if it's empty, minus the horse poo piles here and there, but surprisingly clean. Some decent sites at Erbie all the way at the back on the left. You can access the buffalo river trail from the horse camp, and takes you to a nice over look about a mile in, saw a bald eagle there. The crossing is a low-water concrete bridge, and would be easily passable except after heavy rains.

@Cards3 You posted these coords (35.76014, -93.27897) for a campsite on the Piney, would be N of the turn off from Car Wash that goes to the 123. How many vehicles will that site fit? Have you seen any others in that area? I think we're gonna go explore that area this weekend.

Anyone ever experienced a bad center support bearing or worn out U-Joints? As of recent I'm having some odd noises and vibrations at certain speeds, and cannot find any solid answers. I checked for play in the bearing and there is a bit of play, and greased the U-joints which didn't have any play it seemed. Thought I'd start here before creating a thread. Thanks!

I don't have any audio of it, but it is a sort of a squeak that comes only at lower speeds whenever I'm accelerating. The "squeak is around 20-40mph whenever I'm above 2k rpm and goes away at higher speeds. I was having a very bad vibration whenever I stay around 40mph, and noticed vibration going 65+. Thats about all I have to describe the sound, and it only does it whenever driving/doesn't make noise or vibration while in neutral or park. Also tried AC off/on and it still did it. Also for reference my truck has 107k miles and has never had U-joints or center support bearing replaced.

I'm assuming it's not a belt squeal... Wonder if that vibration could be tires?

Not a belt squeal I ruled that out pretty quickly since it only does it while driving. My dad mentioned the vibration being the tires also, but I think the vibration is connected to the noise since they both came about the same time.

My truck had 50k something and always had a couple points (around 40mph and 60mph) where it had a slight vibration. Carrier bearing had lots of play but seemed good otherwise. Based on what I could find from reading TW I could spend weeks months years chasing these and the cost seemed to even out on a one piece drive shaft. I liked the idea of a one piece drive shaft, so I ordered a Tom Woods. Installed it a year ago or so and it solved everything. Everything,,, truck was butter smooth until I unfortunately decided to drain and fill the tranny. Since then and I have the strangest buzzing type vibration at 40 again that is classic (per TW) torquer converter slippage... Oh well. Just my experience, obviously your milage may vary. Many people get the biggest success from a 2-3 degree shim set in back...

I have had the vibration issues at different speeds, but it ended up being a lost wheel weight. Would be a rare bird to have a U joint problem at that mileage but I'm sure it's happened. Curious to know what you find out.
