shims don't affect on angle, you must be talking about carrier drop, YMMW with that, some have some don't. I had without it with my icon leaf pack.

they do affect pinion angle, just not drive shaft angle.

correct, haven't seen anyone worry about pinion angle here, mostly everyone adjusts driveshaft tho.

one TW documented strategy is to make sure your pinion angle is close or equal to your t-case angle.

How long is the strap? and where did it break?
could always overlap 2 to 3 feet of the cut and sew it together with some heavier thread. Granted might be more effort than to replace it.
    Make some loops maybe?

It's 20'. Pretty close to center or slightly more to one side. It's cheap enough that I don't really care but there's gotta be some use for it

I’m not running any shims. The driveline vibes is hit or miss. I say install it and worst case play with the carrier bearing (put some washers to make a drop. Little bit at a time) to help adjust. If that doesn’t work you can add shims later on.

    Mostly stock for now...
We use (and destroy) a lot of heavy nylon straps at work - probably the safest thing you could do would be to salvage some chunks and use them for padding when putting a recovery strap (or ratchet strap) over something with a sharp edge that might cut the strap

    100% this.

When it comes to any sort of rigging/hoisting/tying down/towing, the moment you see even a fray on any strap, that strap/equipment is scrap. The load rating has been compromised. They would be cut up and either used as padding or hucked out.

How much is your safety and the safety of those around you worth?

Buy a new strap. Don’t put anyone in unnecessary and preventable danger. Don’t use broken or damaged straps (for their original intended purpose), that’s just silly. Take it out of your kit, and either repurpose it for no load tasks or trash it.
