2011 Double Cab - Tailgate Handle Hard To Open

2011 Double Cab - Tailgate Handle Hard To Open.

I was having issues with my tailgate handle being hard to open so I installed a new handle. Before installation, I could open the handle nice and easy while holding it in my hands. It moved without much resistance. After installation, I had the same result though. It's almost like I need to squeeze the handle to open and release the tailgate. Is there something else that needs to be replaced? Thanks!

 

mine was also kind of hard to open as well. I ended up lubing all of the contact points/joints inside the tailgate (underneath the plastic panel) where the handle and it made opening the handle much easier

 

Once I had the plastic panel off I sprayed all of the contact points with some WD-40, including the latches on both sides. Didn't make a difference. I'm not sure if I need to replace something else. Like maybe this? # 69090C
