Anyone trading their Taco for a Tesla Model 3?

Man they increased the price so much in even the past year sheesh.

I agree at that price there are tons of cars out there, to your point key distinction is do i want a EV or at that price range maybe a HD truck or luxury car.

For us we needed a DD and family car so we got the 7 seater LR and honestly it’s been great. So fun to drive, tons of space, perfect to getting around town.

the other thing to is, alternatively if you spent that similar amount on a lux car you’re probably paying for 91 or a HD truck diesel which are all just so damn expensive

I originally wanted to get a Lexus GX or LX but I’m glad we got this cuz I couldn’t have two cars with terrible mpgs right now like my taco

Check the welds on any Tesla you see. The build quality is crap.

The future of electric is separate leases for the car and the battery.

 

Yeah the lease rip off goes for solar on your house. California is mandating every house to be solar after certain period of time along with electric cars. But they don't tell you is the equipment will be lease pay and user fee for that to include charging your electric vehicle. There will be a user tax on using the utilities equipment.
Like I said it's a scam and then they're going to take us for it. But with gas probably at $20 a gallon we will have no choice. I'm getting ready to buy some horses.

 

Even cars like the rav4 prime or the upcoming Toyota bz4x would make much more sense than a MY. My wife currently drives a 21 venza which is a fantastic car especially because we paid $32k for it right before everything disappeared off lots. Weird to think we would buy 2 venzas for the price of the tesla. This makes less and less sense the more I talk about it

Nothing wrong with the venza at all. Its a fantastic underrated vehicle especially when you compare it to a rav4 hybrid thats almost the same price. Yes its a hybrid AWD and we average 40mpg. If they came out with a prime version in the venza it would be killer. Have 50miles of electric range and then hybrid after.

As I stated before teslas dont make financial sense

 

Well I never said a horse would be cheap But it would be less expensive than where EV and petroleum is on its way to.

 

40mpgs is pretty dang good!

If we were all about making decisions that make financial sense most of us wouldn't be daily driving lifted tacomas with large tires etc

 

We looked at a MY a few years ago. Nice vehicle but lacking on the interior. Didn’t like the deceleration as soon as you let,off the brakes and the car slows without lighting up the brake lights. In crazy Florida, that’s a recipe for disaster.

Bought a slightly used Macan GTS instead and are much happier, even paying for gas. The sound alone when you start it is great.

 

Any Porsche is great... wait not the Porsche Miata I mean Boxster.

I personally would never trade my Tacoma for one. But as others have said, a Tesla would be a nice DD to compliment the Toyota as a dedicated trail rig

 

The one pedal driving does take some getting used to but after we did it was super nice. It was weird to make a 3 point turn and never press on the brake pedal

 

Yeah my wife has the 2021 Subaru outback. It's hardly been driven due to the virus issues and her working at home but considering the next vehicle to be an EV since she only goes a to b short time. Which one? It will be will take plenty of research. My neighbor has a Tesla he loves it but like all new technology there are issues. I'd like to wait it out for a while and see if some of those issues don't get ironed out.

 

Honestly it really messed me up for the first few days, but now i'm so used to it and its pretty nice actually. The weirdest thing for me still is that its silent. I'm using to the gear dropping and RPMs going up etc going up hills. The tesla is just silent and just takes off. You don't realize how fast you get going because of how quiet it is, next thing you know you're going 90

 

You can change that on the Tesla in the settings really fast.

 

Agree - if i had to choose i'm keeping my Taco

 

15-16 mpg?, i avg 19-22 ecah day on a 60 mile round trip commute..what are you doing? if its lifted and with 33's drop down and get better mileage, there are things you can do...just saying

 

The first model S came out in 2012 and they have been ironing things out since. No disrespect but if you wait for everything to be iron out you will never buy one. Look that the issues with the new tundra. That came out in 2000 and this year ( new version) have a new set of issues.

Teslas have an 8 year 120k mile warranty and toyotas dont. Which company do you think is more confidence in their product based off that?
