How did you remove them? I just got decals that go over them.

 

I dunno if this will sell. I mean, it doesn't have enough lights. You should fix that.

 

that's acetone which I was really trying to avoid. I ended up with a combination of citrus based bug-n-tar which I had on hand instead of going to get goo-gone and then a magic eraser to get the "ring" off. Worked great and as expected scratched the hell out of the clear but a little bit of rubbing compound, polish and wax and it look better than the rest of the panel except for an almost imperceptible ghosting from where the paint didn't have sun exposure through its life.

Very pleased with the result but you have to be comfortable with bringing back the clear coat if you go with anything remotely abrasive.

Chemical-free version:

Use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften up the adhesive under the decal. Keep the heat moving. Decal should peel off fairly easily. If not, apply more heat. Try not to stretch the visor fabric while pulling on the decal. Once the decals are off, put a dry paper towel over the remaining adhesive and apply a hot clothes iron to the paper towel. The paper towel will completely absorb the adhesive. When I did this, the only evidence the decals were ever there was some slight sun fading of the surrounding area. It evened out over time.

Got this method from another member here. You'll have to cover the printing on the mirror covers, those aren't decals.

 

What’s it rub like?

 

I wish I could go camping again. At 70 my poor old body want to wake up in a soft bed now in a warm home. But if I want to enjoy nature I can just go down to my privet lake and park or look out my bedroom window? Guess I am spoiled to much in my old age! Just to much open area we own to drive to a place to camp. I am planning some trips this Spring/Summer with the Misses to just go look at the areas near us for Day Drives. We now have 120 acres started with 40 and added on over the last 25 years. Own just about all the land in the overhead taken summer picture now. White trailer is now gone we bought there 80 acres to the ridge behind it. So all the land from that ridge back to our home and further is ours now. Once you own land you just want more and more to keep people away.

 

two years ago exactly was the perfect time to buy one. they gave me way more on my trade than it was worth and 0% financing. timing is everything.

That's the dream right there. My wife and I are working on something similar, just with fewer large herbivores. I grew up raising horses and I don't ever want to do that again.

 

Nah. I ended up keeping them but I may switch up to some 57DR-X in gun blue or something in the near future.

I installed the flat black dash trim I bought from another member. Just the dash and radio surround pieces. At least so far. My goal was to eliminate the reflection off of the "gun metal" gray trim. Mission accomplished! Now I don't see the reflection in the side glass from those trim pieces. OTOH, I can now see a very slight reflection from the chrome trim on the AC vents. I suppose at some point I'll find some flat black trim rings and replace those as well.

It never ends.

 

WOW! I just ordered a 2022 Ram Power Wagon with literally EVERY option for $6k more than that! And yes I am keeping my Taco too!
