Thoughts on Decals and Boards on Lunar Rock

Got really lucky and was able to purchase a 2022 TRD Sport 4x4 Lunar Rock. What are your thoughts on the bedside decals. Should I remove ? Still up in the air about that. What about the cast aluminum running boards keep or remove ?

I know it’s a bit silly but I am undecided if I like them or not.

 

Check out the linked thread--lots of images of all colors that have been debadged &/or had decals removed.

 

Personally I do not mind the decals and never took the time to debadge. As for the side steps, I like those ones. But I think they look strange with stock size tires for some reason. Its like they stick out too far or something. That said, I think they are one of the best options available, just my opinion. If you plan to do any upgrades I would just hang on to those and use them. Or just like the previous person stated...who cares what others think. Its your ride, do what you like with it.

 

I vote for getting a bigger sticker to cover that color.

Look at pics and decide what you like, not what we like. Congrats on the new truck.

 

Sticker is complete owner preference, but those running boards are just bolted into the sheet metal of the cab. I'd personally find a frame mounted option you like instead.

 

I think that color needs contrast, similar to cement and Quicksand.

I didn't think I'd like LR until I saw a Pro with the graphics package, the contrast really makes it pop.


Yes you can get that same graphic for an OR and a Sport.

Why did you get lucky? Honest opinion? I think running boards look hideous, and unless you're disabled, why do you need help getting into your stock truck. And I never liked decals or badges, so I removed everything. YMMV

 

They look way better without that huge bed decal.

 

For the OP you can always remove them and decide how it looks. If you change your mind and want them back you have plenty of vendors to get a replacement.

It took me months to find the Lunar Rock TRD Sport 4x4 in Southern California. Sold out everywhere or huge dealer mark ups. Was able to get this one brand new without a dealer mark up. I agree on the running boards - not really needed to get in or out plus they have a grit to them that catch your pant legs as you step over them. Only reason I contemplated keeping was for protection from door dings but I really do not like so they will probably come off this weekend.

 

How do you like the OEM roof rack. I have been thinking about getting one. looks good

 

Well, take them off. It sounds like you already know what you like so why ask other people about what to do with YOUR truck. Enjoy your truck and do what you like to it, why give a $h!t what other people think? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those running boards are certainly not my thing....they're very unflattering lookwise. Take em off, sell em and buy some 0 degree sliders

 

I have a lunar rock sport on order. My plan is to remove the bed decal and maybe put a black one on, black over lays for the chrome Tacoma emblems,black tacoma letters for the tailgate,and oem predator step bars.

 

would love to see a decal set that works well with a camper shell like snug top. everything i have seen lines up just under where the shell sits. would even be nice to have one that goes on to the shell.

 

I like it but I don't put anything heavy up there, just my paddleboards for short trips. I have a bed mounted Thule Xporter for the heavier stuff for longer trips at higher speeds.

It IS handy as hell as a rooftop grab handle when I'm climbing up the sliders to wash the roof.

I don't ever regret having it or wish I had something else.


EDIT: You might want to check fitment. I've heard there's an issue with later Tacomas and the OEM roofrack due to later models relocating the fin antenna that now interferes with the cross braces. I don't know if that's applicable still.

 

i do not like how the running boards look and i dont like the red 4x4 on the bedside decal. my army green has the same sticker and i wish it was all black or black and silver/gray
