Brand new 2022 Tacoma starting problems and loud blower fan noise

Stumbling after a battery disconnect isn’t unusual for the first start up.

As for the HVAC fan making noises, did it run so rough as to let stuff get down there? I know low mileage but… Also, it it’s like the 2nd Gen, should be too hard to see down there throught the gove box/filter access.

 

Like fall down there? Truck is empty, nothing to fall. When it started it just coughed and stumbled, nothing shook the truck or anything

Battery QD removed and returned to stock. Blower still makes noise.

 

I would recommend looking into a solution from BlueSea. They make heavy duty disconnects. Either manual (switch style) or remotely operated by a small switch in the cab.

That being said, you could also just pull the leads off the battery...

 

Unless the disconnect you purchased is shitty, it should work just fine. Make sure the terminals are installed tight. Hope it works out for you.

 

Probably a bad fan blade. Easy replace by dealer under warranty. If they have it in stock.

 

I also have a loud fan on my 21. Annoying as hell

 

There is a better disconnect that uses a screw type feature for the disconnect. I don't like the looks of what you installed.

A 28 gauge wire will still carry 12V, but your truck isn’t going to start if you try to connect your starter with it. That’s why you have those big, thick gauge wires going to your starter, alternator, etc… and small gauge wires going to little things that don’t demand big surges of power like cabin lights. They’re all 12V, but that thin little blade on the disconnect you used is probably just too thin for the truck to start reliably.

 

Just another option. The battery ground terminal can be removed after about half a turn with a 10mm wrench. Push the cable off to the side and be done with it. Wiggle it back on later and tighten half a turn and your ready to go in the same amount of time a QD takes.

 

Why would you want to install one of those ? Things happen hours after the truck shuts off now they won't.

 

They are generally installed on cars that have to get put into storage for more than a week or two at a time. None of the post shutdown evap testing or anything else really matters. All will be fine.
