    Belated Birthday Kurt.

Yesterday was a fun day. Rich, my cousin's husband, is getting around really well now. I think he can ditch the walker and start to use a cane. He still had a little bit of a hard time putting on his jacket, but so do I at times. It was an enjoyable lunch for both of us. He has not been out of the house in a while, and it was a beautiful day yesterday. Today my wife and I are stopping by Panera and picking up sandwiches for lunch and taking them down to Rich for a lunch break. My cousin comes back from Florida tomorrow.

Spring yard maintenance started yesterday. The mulch at the shrub line in the front of the house was removed yesterday. We will remove the mulch by the tree in the front yard today. Reinstall new mulch tomorrow after I get a haircut.

:rofl::rofl:Not mine - was the WIFE'S birthday! But thanks, and I'll be sure to let her know some handsome older gents were noticing!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Peoples! Beautiful day yesterday. Screen project for the greenhouse vents didn't work out - to many obstructions - so, I will put on the new solar screen today, to try to convince the new batch of ladybugs to stay and eat things. Last batch seemed to have sex, and disappeared. Got some more mulch thrown down, and more today.

I didn't do the labor, but cable came and took care of my box and outlet check. Around the corner now, it is!

Look at all that blank real estate!

Also took 1/2 hour for a little RAV4 mod ("please don't modify the car!") that she'll probably not even notice for a while.

All 4 doors got illuminated window switches. It really bugged me you could not see them at all in the dark, or when you opened the door. It's ridiculously easy plug and play.

Off to pick up mulch early today. Replacing the mulch in the front of the home today. Hopefully finished by 10:30 so I can get a haircut.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! Ladybugs are back in the frig - they sent me the wrong size sunshade for the Greenhouse last year, and I never noticed the label on the bag when I put it up. New one coming today. Then, I used up all the rest of my mulch. Still more to do!

I'm with Tom today, and will be getting more mulch! But, I'll be getting another ear adjustment at 10:30 (I am AMAZED how much better these new ones are!). I'm going for a little "more tweak", because it's really fantastic to hear stuff this well. Then, pick up some new TV for the BR and DR, then the haircut, Spectrum store for a box, then Lowes and WalMart. A good busy day ahead!

I must have missed the post Kurt, what did you go with? (I've been wearing hearing aids since the 1990's so I have a lot of interest in the topic.)

I went with from a top-middle Phonak, to a top tier Widex. BTE models. Made in Canada. They have a nicer App, and I have enough adjustment to get myself in trouble. After my last adjustment (more Sparkle, please!), I tried bumping up the volume one left, two right, and equalized mid +1 and treble +2 to see how it went. Well, things are better, and I'm having her put this in (or better) as my new baseline. She can equalize at 1K difference levels, not just bass/mid/treble. I can see people getting in trouble with that much adjustment. I wanted to spend less, but there's no way to be happy going "backwards" in quality, and this is like my fourth pair in about 16 years. So, steal some money from me, and be happy.

Edit: Oh yeah. I can wear these rechargeable's all day out doors, and not kill the battery. Wind noise is much less decause of the tips, and I can drive with windows down. Charge lasts all day.

:jellydance: I can't do that! :jellydance:

That seems like a nice rig. My first ever hearing aid (only wore one for a while) was Widex. They were the first company with a full digital aid back then.

Sony BOSE finally came out with hearing aids, haven't gotten any reviews but I'm guessing they would be pretty good.

Still waiting on my ENT from the scan couple of weeks ago, looks like surgery could restore full hearing in my left ear (the right is fine). Seems I really do have an extra hole in my head :spy:

My wife and I had our hearing tested last week for the first time. Wife has hearing loss in the higher notes, which they say is typical, but not really to the point aids are recommended.

Mine is similar in my left ear but substantially different in my right. They are recommending I see an ear/nose/throat specialist to see why. Right ear has felt like it is full of wax or something for over a decade. Hearing hasn't been bad though until recently. I guess we'll see...

I feel your pain. I know my wife's hearing is getting bad. I don't think mine is yet. I installed a high-dollar surround sound system years ago for my family room TV. I think it sounds like in a movie theater with good voice dialog from a center speaker. She hates it because she claims the bass over powers the dialog. I have increased the dialog and decreased the bass and midtones to almost nothing. She likes the transistor radio sound from the TV alone. She watches all shows on all TVs in the house with closed caption. I don't like closed caption because it's distracting to the rest of the show. Getting old sucks.
