So my wife has an easy fall back when it comes to Christmas presents. She can always buy Ryobi stuff for me. She got me one of their little electric pressure washers and has been after me to use it ever since. Hey...ahhh...it's kinda been freezing ya know honey.

Finally got a nice day and busted it out. I must say I'm pretty impressed considering I'm using cold water. It feels very similar in pressure to a carwash nozzle. Has different nozzles(I'm using a 15deg flat here) as well as a detergent pick up tube but I'm using straight water here.

One thing I really like about it is the pump only runs when you pull the trigger. As soon as you let off everything is completely silent.

Ahh, love the smell of Arkansas sulfur water in the evening.

Also bought a high limb saw kit from Amazon. The kit has a saw chain which cuts both ways and has teeth on both sides.

You throw a rope hooked to the throw bag over a limb, drag it over, and saw it from a safe distance. Been researching these for awhile. I have 2 huge limbs high up that have been preventing me from cutting trees down.



I tried it on a 5" oak limb that I knew I could get to with my pole saw if I got the chain stuck. I knew going in that these are not great for one person use since the radius gets small as you cut thru and they bind up. This limb was very hard and very dry as well making it probably the worst learning curve limb I could have chosen.

I went side to side to undercut the branch to limit this but it still stuck a lot and generated some fine words taught to me by 20yrs of dealing with OTR truck drivers. Finally got it down.

It cuts great but really needs 2 people to keep the radius of the cut bigger and prevent binding. Even spreading my arms wide when it stuck was enough to get it unstuck sometimes.

 

I have a small Sun Joe pressure washer I got from Sam's Club. It came with a rotating "turbo nozzle" which I have really come to like for cleaning muddy wheels and similar.

I have been pondering one of these as I can't do ladders any more.

Reminds me I need to replace my electric pressure washer that I got at Lowe's several years back. I've worn it slap out and the pump will no longer keep prime. Used it yesterday and it almost didn't turn on. Luckily I don't have to deal with that nasty smelling sulfur. My outside spigots are fed by the cistern so it's eco-friendly rain water

Also, skip the detergent thing and go with a foam cannon!

 

I picked up my new XT1 GT54 last night. So far I am very excited about it. It is a big unit. Much larger than the old Scotts. Some compromises like poly bushings instead of bearings, but overall I think it should be a solid unit.

Just waiting for this rain to go away so I can get out and use it.

Looking for attachments now. Primarily a dethatcher for sticks and dethatching work.

I am so tempted to get a sleeve hitch for it for a landscape rake or one of those little agri-fab 42" box blades.

I don't want to be overconfident in it's capabilities, so maybe just a gravel drag harrow like Yard Tuff 78 in. Driveway Draggin' Drag Harrow, ATV-78LDT at Tractor Supply Co. or something.

I did find on Tuff Torq's specs for the K58 that they use heat treated steel gears as opposed to powdered metal. So that is a bonus. K58 - Tuff Torq Corporation

This is conflicting, because most people will say the K58 is definitely not meant for GT activities.

Also conflicting, compatible accessories for the XT1 GT54 lists cub's sleeve hitch, but the sleeve hitch itself says XT2 Garden Tractors only.

If the XT1 and XT2 are on the same chassis, and the XT2 GX50 also runs the K58 transaxle, then what is the difference between the XT1 GT54 and XT2 GX50 in terms of capabilities? What makes the GX50 more capable?

 

The transaxle is the same and it shouldn't matter too much. I'd sleeve hitch it if I wanted to. Don't buy the AF box blade, buy the Brinly. It's built better. I welded 50lbs of iron to my AF to make it usable.

 

Good to know. Brinly makes a smaller one too and should pull easier for peace of mind.

Aside from the GT designation, prior years specifically state the GT54 is a Garden Tractor, such as the 2020 model listed here. Cub Cadet XT1 GT54" Garden Tractor | Cub Cadet US

 

Remember the deck belt I got on clearance yesterday?
I just put it on the shelf in the garage -- next to two just like it...

There are advantages to being disorganized -- mostly for people selling things it would seem.

 

Speaking of pressure washers. I bought this one at Sams back in October on clearance for $199, I didn't need it, I put it in the building and haven't even opened the box. My other one works fine

 

Do all of these pressure washers use a universal QD? I don't want to buy one that won't connect to my wand.

 

The lower end units use a smaller type of quick detach fitting.

The conventional pressure washers use a 3/8" fitting. They are pretty common at decent hardware stores .

 

I believe they do, I bought one on Amazon for about $18 and it clicked right on.
I won't be going back to the bucket wash method after having the foam cannon.
My car washing PW is a really small electric Sun Joe.

The well water at the garage isn't the best so I filter it a bit first...
