I knew that, but what I didn't know was the same letter can be both yellow and gray. In the instructions it says "if it's yellow it's in the word but not in the correct spot", if it's grey then "the letter is not in any spot in the word". So how can I have a "T" that is both yellow and grey?

Seems the two rules are in direct conflict. What they don't say is if you use the same letter twice, like I did on line 2 below in the first pic, 1 grey and 1 yellow means there's only 1 "T". Once I went through all the possibilities on line 4, with the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th square set and only the 2nd square to get, I realized there was something missing from the directions. Then it clicked and got it on line 4.

I believe this case is that there is only 1 "T", as a script, once the letter is satisfied, the next of the same letter is false for being contained within the key word. Otherwise you could guess "guess" and have the actual word only have one "S" and wrongly color the second yellow or green.

Aaaarrgghhh! I had the last 4 squares green by the third line. I got this! Then, 4, 5 and 6 were all valid words but not the correct one! One letter away and still didn't get it. Lol.

I mulled it over last night and finally figured out what I did wrong. Line 3(and maybe 4) should have laid-up with a jumbled mess of consonants in order to find the one I was missing.

For those that like Wordle and want a little more of a challenge, check out Wordle2.

    https://www.wordle2.in/

I typically do this, Wordle5 (another simple 5 letter version) and the as mentioned Quordle. My wife and I have tried Heardle which is Wordle with music but it’s very 50/50 as I don’t know many modern rap/pop songs.

I do something similar at the start - use words with mostly vowels. Find those, then use (what I believe to be) the most commonly used consonants. Hardly foolproof though. I haven't done today's yet, just getting started at work so I'll take a break later and give it a shot.
