All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Have you taken your bug implant out yet? That could also be the root of the issue ;)

I'd like to plan something for the weekend of April 1-3, or anytime within that, to meet some of y'all and ride some trails. My wife is going on a girl's trip so I wanted to take the dog camping somewhere in north Georgia. I was Googling around today and the Charlie's Creek Road Trail and Tate Branch Campground area looks promising. Open to any suggestions.

I could be game. I'm trying to take my family to FL the following weekend, but having some trouble convincing my wife to go.

I have already started talking about introducing our kids to camping and that should be a good time of year.

As far as trail riding, Charlie's Creek has been graded recently and is supposedly pretty boring right now. Like grandpa's sedan can handle it level challenging. That said, a lot can change between now and then. I'm not familiar with Tate Branch.

Screenshot_20220316-224412_Gaia GPS.jpg took my wife and pup on this route into the Cohutta WMA last year. Some forest roads, but some pretty cool lookouts. Saw a jeep caravan, maybe 15-20 of them while there. A few good camp sites and some near a creek. A bit of a haul to get to, but still a fun time on some pretty easy trails. I think we eventually ended up coming through Helen and then back to hall County.

Oh, it actually has a name? I spent countless hours playing around in the Gaia maps looking for a trip.

Planning on knocking a few more roads off the list this weekend- Has anyone been down FSR-261 in the Cooper’s Creek area? The few times I’ve been by it there was either a tree down or a gate closed.

I feel like I'm entering the stage of life where kids activities dictate more than they should and weekends aren't mine.

Here's what my trip looks like. Hoping the weather cooperates. Leaving early Saturday the 2nd, camping at Tate Branch that night, then making my way back down. I've never been to any of these places so I'm hoping it's nothing too difficult as I'll be alone and I don't have any recovery gear. Not going to take too many chances in any case. Mostly just want to get out there.

Dick’s creek is closed so that will need to have a reroute. I’d personally route to Helton Creek Falls and skip West Wolf Creek. Other than that all the trails on that list are more than suitable for exploring without any issues. Lots of beautiful views in that area.

At a minimum I’d suggest a shackle hitch receiver and a tow strap. Don’t be the guy who needs to be pulled out with nothing to aid. Not saying you’ll need it for those trails, but as something to have on hand while off-road in general.

Thanks for the info! I'll go ahead and order a few basics, just in case.

Looks like a great trip! Plenty of good stuff, and still close enough to resupply should you run out or want something different

Also, for the purpose of this thread if anyone wants to get out and explore some trails near Suches this weekend, we will be leaving Ellijay around 11 this Saturday.

I'm trying to make last-minute Spring Break plans with the fam. Would love to get outdoors and in the woods for a weekend 4/1-4. Had plans to visit the family cabin north of Blairsville but it's occupied for the week. Open to truck camping options, though spots are likely booked everywhere. We're staying at Vogel in early May so that's off the list. Any ideas that include hikes & water access?

Perfect! First come, first serve spots. I'll keep this in mind. We haven't been to Helen in years.

It like a 7 mile drive once you leave the pavement. Road is easy just long. Just keep on Driving and you will see the campground.

I went up into this area today. Also further west on Glade road is where it got into 4wd territory. It was was fun. But the trails get really narrow so don't go if you are worried about scratches.
