Hey guys. Last week I snagged one of those $180 10.5" pistol uppers from PSA for a MK18Mod0 inspired build.

I pulled the MWI 2-piece quad rail off of my 16" and had a freakin' bear of a time getting it installed on the PSA upper. Once I had everything finally on, I've noticed the upper rail does not line up with the upper receiver. It's canted ever so slightly right. This was not an issue when the rail was on my other upper, so I don't believe it to be a defect on the quad rail.

Is there anything I can do to correct this myself? Pics attached for reference.

Not familiar with the MI rails so this is just a shot in the dark. Do you have to time that barrel nut with shims for it to align properly?

Nope. It's a 2-piece drop in using the existing delta ring/barrel nut. Here's a link to the rail: https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/product-p/mctar-17g2-blk.htm

I'm thinking maybe the PSA barrel nut isn't torqued just right so it's canted slightly. But then again for the whole thing to be crooked like this, the end cap behind the front site post would have to be canted too, right? Like I said this exact foregrip dropped in 100% fine and lined up perfect on my other upper.

Put the original 2 piece back on that came with the upper and then see if it looks canted too.

If it fit correctly on your 16” gun and not on the psa upper then psa’s QC strikes again

I'll check when I get home tonight. It's going to be a pain to get off. That thing is on there tight.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, too. It may just be an illusion but that front sight looks ever so slightly canted in the second picture as well.

If you can get the original hand guard back on and it all still looks off then you just send it back to PSA and let them fix it. If they send you it back still jacked up the take it apart and fix it your self or send it back again and request a refund.

After fenagling with the thing for about 30 minutes last night I got it to line up better with the upper receiver. It's now shifted slightly right instead of tilted and not perfectly flush across the top but it's as close as I'll be getting it. We're talking a millimeter or two out of sync. Once I threw the Aimpoint PRO on you really can't tell at all so the only real issue is my OCD. Since this is a bottom of the barrel budget build (I'm all in for less than $500 not counting the optic) it'll do. I still sent an e-mail to PSA just to get their feedback but for $180 I don't expect too much. I'll throw up a completed pic tonight.

I kind of want to SBR this lower that way I can go ahead and go full MOD0 with the KAC vertical and SOPMOD stock, but I'm not sure if it's worth that rabbit hole for aesthetics.

If it is, it's slight. I'm going to get everything sighted in this weekend and see. I guess I could probably put a square and a level on it to tell. May still do that.

    Finished product less rear sight:

    SHHHHH! :lalala:

I'd never shoulder it.... I'd BRACE it against the area between my ARM and my shoulder to help STABILIZE when shooting.

Not unless you bend/break the barrel indexing pin. Which is possible, depending on the method used to remove the nut.
