I have done hours of reading on this topic, without finding any solid real world answers. From what I have read the coating on the frame should be enough to protect the steel, but I can't promise this to be 100% correct. While looking I couldn't find anyone who has had an issue with this... and I found a few people complaining about their power coated steel plates being rusty after a few years, but the aluminum plates not having any issues.

I recently spoke with one customer who was a previous aerospace engineer. He was having his plate hard anodized as this should prevent any transfer.

I have your shield on my 4 cylinder for the front cat? Any progress update for the shield to protect the rear cat, as I recall you were in the early design stage for the rear shield.

    Thanks

I had a local shop install two of them. Overall it was pretty good, but he recommended a few things that I am going to change, then send out to him.

After someone talked about these, I'm tempted to order one. Is it strongly discouraged to use the bolts that come with the plate or are they decent at protection?

Also, any updated promo codes to use?

I installed mine last night with an RCI front skid plate. Used one Al spacer to replace the larger resin spacer from RCI. I put the add-on wings outside of the plate, it seems to rub the frame, so I may drop and install them on the inside of the main plate. Thinking of blue loctite on the bolts, too. I'm afraid they're going back to out.

I personally think for most situations the included allen head bolts are good to go. Its up to you if you think you need the upgraded security bolts.

Looks good! The wings do go on the inside again. I need to email the graphics guy again.

I just placed an order for this. If my truck is out of commission from a cat theft then it means we could miss some camping trips we have planned. Not willing to risk that. My parents church just had the cats stolen from their vans and also had the gas tanks drilled.

I would not recommend utilizing the hex bolts that ship with the kit. Stripped one and now to need to extract. The head is too small for the service, IMO and would utilize the OEM bolts.

What do you recommend? I'm debating if the security hardware is worth the extra $60 or so.

I don't have a recommendation from a security perspective. Just hope the thieves aren't working with a sawzall and a 12mm ratchet.
