If I was a CEO trying to turn around a dead retail chain? I would absolutely use my liquid cash to bolster my EPS so I look good. When it comes to earnings, revenue and EPS trump cash reserves. Especially in this situation. lol

I don't really see the point if you're truly all in on a company and expect success. Serious investors would know how you gamed the numbers. To my mind, it's a matter of either they turn around or they don't, and if they do these numbers will simply take care of themselves at that time.


I mean, you guys go ahead and evaluate however you prefer. All I'm getting at is when debt is this cheap and I'm transitioning a business, I ain't spending my own cash and I ain't concerned if earnings are poor on the business we won't be 5 years from now especially while we're making front end investment on that transition. Those are big assumptions - and they may not occur. I'm just a dumb ol' indexer anyway, because I firmly believe no single person can match the distributed knowledge and evaluatory skill of the market as a whole.
