Can't say I disagree with this sentiment, there is no such thing as real television out there, everything is crafted by producers. That being said some people can make it very easy on the producers to put that spin on things and from everything I have heard, the Mazespins wouldn't have required a whole lot of editing.

I suspect those types of things happen with every sponsor and the pay drivers they support. The drivers themselves all have big egos and powerful self belief or they wouldn't have spent the time and energy required to obtain a super license even if they may not really deserve one. They will all believe to some extent that someone else is at fault for their own failings and lack of talent. And every sponsor of a pay driver wants their brand to be displayed in the best possible light. So they will always bully and leverage the race team to put their driver in the best possible position. Drive to survive is just the first time we have listened to snippets of those behind the scenes things happening.

Well still, it was basically an ultimatum Dmitry gave. Make my son faster than Mick or my money goes.

Agree. Mazepin was shown on DTS. But none of these dudes are push overs. They got there because they’re good or because they’re good enough and they have family money. Either way, none of these dudes are going to constantly admit they failed. They even talk about it in season 4. When a teammate is not performing as well as the other, THEY ALL blame the car first. They’ll pick apart EVERYTHING before they say “he’s just better than me”. Shoot. I’d do the same.
I’m not saying Mazepin’s a saint by the way.

it’s the same thing with Hamilton. He puts himself out there as being bullied by max. “Max drives dangerous blah blah”.

Ham has done the same moves for years. Just no one has contested him. Now someone’s doing it back to him and he can’t take it.

Yea, it was a thuggish thing to do and exactly what one would expect from a entitled Russian oligarch. Oligarch is really just a nice word for mafia boss. But I'll bet every sponsor with a pay driver behaves just as poorly at times.

Anyone else see that Perez quote on racing with a positive test for the word that cannot be written?
Not sure that I disagree. I mean, what's the difference if you are in a car, alone, wearing a helmet...as long as you feel OK?

They don't spend the week isolated in their car. They travel to and from the race with others, they have to interface with their entire entire team, they are around other drivers, they are around the press and fans ...

I agree with him. With a positive test and no to mild symptoms the driver should be able to race. It's not much different than racing with a cold or the flu which drivers have done plenty in the past.

Teams just need to have plans for it. It's not just "sitting alone in a car with helmet on". There's lots of contact with team members before and after each practice, qualy, ect. But again that's all stuff teams should be able to adapt to and just do it over "zoom" or whatever to keep everyone separated. Plus fan events and dinners and crap. But really cancel those...not much different than if they just don't go like now with a positive test

Racing with a positive test should not be allowed. You can’t give emergency care whilst being socially distanced in the event of an accident.

I can’t believe we are still talking About the vid. Dumb. No one cares if you have the flu or strep throat, etc.

We're not. That is against the rules of this forum. We're talking about Perez's opinion on protocol. Good points by @mosccat & @velillen . I had not considered 1st responders and brief/debrief.
