Nice! Lookin good. What did you pick for tires? It's kinda funny the offroad and pro have the same tires. But I get it. If you deck out a offroad it costs the same without the suspension upgrade.

I think Toyota gave up picking tires 4 us long ago. They probably think we all do what you did. Immediately get the tires that match our environment. I want "wagon wheels" tall and skinny. Because I'm a snow guy. Someone in Alabama or Florida wants thick mud tread. They know we all branch off. And anyone willing to pay 50k for an old used up taco model is fine with another 2k in tires that match home.

    Seriously. KO2’s 285/75R16, $1022 at Discount. :spending:
I hope I can get $500+ out of these stock tires with 190 miles on them, but you never know.

Not too concerned about losing a little on the break over angle. We do some tough 4WD roads with loads of rocks, but nothing that is too ridiculous that I’m going to worry about losing a couple of degrees and mash my skid plate…that’s what it’s there for. I won’t be taking this truck to Hell’s Gate in Moab (or any other truck that I have). I like the width and ride both aired down when 4 wheeling and aired up on the highway, and I think it looks cooler than the stock tires or 265/75’s.

Nice, and only 24 pages in to get a "decent" picture. But now you have to post in the asshole parking thread too ;)

I sold my tires for $500, but I also threw in the spare w/ steelie.

lolz, no kidding. I parked like a douche; when I go to the mall it will probably be parked the same way, only way out by itself….500 yards from the nearest vehicle.

Yes, a little on the UCA at FULL lock; really surprised by that as we tested them on the fronts before we put all 4 on. Also weird since I was not even thinking about the UCA since the 2022 has a little more lift than the TRD Pros from 2020 and 2021. Most of the previous 2 model years owners who have gone to 285s reported no rubbing at all on all the threads that I searched on TW. With the change to the billeted UCA, they must stick out a little more than the UCAs from previous years. Probably would not be a true problem if you stayed strictly on the street and paid attention, but for wheeling, it would def be a problem.

Could have gone down a size, but once we got them on there and saw them….well you know how that goes.

So, today I worked with Lenny at Motorsport Tech and orders some .75” Bora spacers. I’m not a big spacer fan mostly because I don’t like a lot of poke on the wheels, so we’re gonna try the smallest that we think will fix the issue. If I need bigger, then we’ll swap them for 1” etc.
Before everyone trashes me for using spacers, I know that the best spacer is a wheel with the correct offset, but decided to try this and see how it goes. I really like Bora products and they have more specialized inventory that most vendors and great customer service.

It was either spacers, or only drive in a straight line all the time.

For sure. I am always a little pissed that Toyota never puts the tires on their trucks that all of us want, but even more pissed when they seem to not anticipate that and we run into minor problems like I did today.
Keeps lots of small companies in business though with us buying all the mods, so that’s not a bad thing.

Can all you guys do one thing for me? Check your front bumper underneath the headlights and see if it's a more "frosted" paint than the rest of the truck. Quite a few '22 owners reporting a totally different finish on their front bumpers, but what I noticed was it's only the section under the headlights and not under the grille. Almost like it's done on purpose. At first I thought it was the "paint protection film" but mine doesn't have it on there and neither do others. So unless that is Toyota's new version of it, then I dunno.... But I'm curious if it's happening on the Pro's too. A bit hard to tell from the pics you guys are sharing and that color would make it difficult to spot at some angles, but for example:

    001.jpg

Pretty obvious. And you can see here, that it does not exist on the portion under the grille:

    002.jpg

Anyways, it's driving me nuts. It's being brought up a lot more frequently now and I'm going to try and get some clarification from the dealer but I suspect they have no clue (as with most things) and neither does anyone else. So just curious if it's been carried over to the Pro's or not.

I had to really think about what you were saying, and then after seeing your photos I had an idea of what you were talking about. The texture of my front bumper is different for sure, but I don’t get the difference in color that your photos show. I did wash, chemical decon, clay bar, polish and ceramic coat all the colored paint. Not sure that matters though. I think it is how light bounces off the texture of the bumper. That texture is not on the bottom of the grill area.

the texture people are talking about is the same as my 2nd Gen fender flares were. The texture under the paint gives it a different look but it’s hardly noticeable. My 2022 lunar rock is similar to your electric lime, doesn’t bother me at all. If anything it’ll resist, or at least hide paint chips better. Your last 2 pictures show it best

The first picture was to show that I don't really see the texture from a distance. I have to get up close. My 2010 2nd gen had the plastic fender parts like yours. It had some different texture but not as much as this. I think it has to do with the colors and the material being plastic. I don't know how they are produced. The plastic front bumper could be painted at a different time to make the other bumpers look slightly different?

My 2005 was a trd off road, which in those days meant colour matched fender flares. On my 2005 the texture looks almost identical to what’s in your 2nd and 3rd picture. It’s such a non issue for me I haven’t even looked closely at my 2022 as it hasn’t caught my eye.

I’m pretty sure all plastic pieces get painted separately and sometimes even by a different supply vendor.

I would like to see one of the other colored 2022 bumpers. The texture doesn't bother me because I don't get some different shade or hue when I look at the truck.
