Personal preference. I don’t like levers and shifters cramping my zone.
Same same. I like to tell myself that having my index finger further out on the lever gives me better leverage :notsure:

    I like it. Science.

That was another reason they can be further out I meant to say . One finger braking...

@mrtonyd you one or 2 finger braking ?

1 finger. i should move mine out a bit so i can fit in.

my codes are great cuz the clamp works with my shifter and dropper lever.

my guides are shit cuz they dont

I've also been told i setup my bars weird and need to roll them back.

    not enough.

Yeah, I've noticed that if I have some shifters on the same clamp as my brakes, then it gets funky. my dropper lever can live on the same clamp but my shifter HAS to live on a different clamp for me.

I went grip shift decades ago and never looked back.
Edit-Also one finger braking with middle finger on Paul Love levers. Night rides I have a button for the right thumb but no other levers atm.

Anyone using two fingers needs better brakes.
Separate clamps are key. I love the look of the matchmakers, but they don’t have enough adjustment range for me.
I line up the paddles so the outside edge lines up with the inside edge of the grip. Then levers are lined up so that at the contact point the curve of the blade is where my index finger hits. Contact point almost all the way out. From the grip: 6mm reach, 4mm engagement, 35* angle.
Yeah, I have issues. But I can set up any bikes cockpit quick.
