You’re welcome! Yeah they are all crap…the vehicle could of been super reliable for the previous owner, you buy it and the trans goes out tomorrow.

We might sell everything in 5 years and go on the road full time so I’m casually looking too. Canter would be cool, if we were going that route, probably do a Ford F650, dealers and parts available everywhere in the States. The pickup market is a funny thing…always touting the best torque and horsepower, but when you step up to the medium duties which have greater capacities they actually detune the engine. If want the “feel” of a work truck, medium duty is where it is at.

If you are planning on taking it everywhere then you'll most likely get rock chips. If you get one of the aluminum bodied Fords you dont need to worry nearly as much about chips forming rust.

Did that switch happen around 2015 I think?

Maybe a 2015-2016 F250 will have the old 6.2 along with the new aluminum body. Something to look into for sure.

EDIT: the F150 got Aluminum in 2015. The Super Duty trucks not until 2017.. I believe 2016 was the last year of the 6.2.. lame.

I believe it was. We got new 2015 trucks at work when they came out and I believe they are.

Looking at 2007-2017 (maybe as late as 18-19).

    vs. Ford 2011-2016

What I’ve narrowed down to at this point.

I’m finding that all F250s (and 350s) have blocks in the rear? I thought that was a lifted Raptard thing. That’s a turn off as well, dang.

FWIW, F350 requires CDL in some states apparently… weird.

Just sharing whatever I find interesting at this point haha.

You can get around the F350 thing by maybe getting a F250 with max payload option of some sort or a 2500 HD. In Illinois 1 tons have to or should be registered with a D plate but if you get a 2500 HD it's not required and will do pretty much what a 1 ton can do.

I had a 1999 Ford F250 super duty. Truck was awesome except it would spit spark plugs out of the heads because of bad design and to work on the engine was pure hell.

    Also had a 2009 Sierra 2500HD and a 2011 Silverado 2500HD.
    Fantastic.

I have seen a lot of the Ford f250/350 gasser 6.2L with 370,000+ miles. I don’t do their maintenance but I have seen quite a few of them with that many miles.

I think here as long as your GCVW is less than 26,001 lbs you’re good to go. Trailer limit might be 10,000 or something, I don’t really remember. I’ve never exceeded either in a personal vehicle ha.

It’s a 2006 that’s not running perfect and just came out of a 30 below zero Winter driving short distances to work and back haha.

Tundras in general don’t really exceed 12-14 mpg. Their only downfall other than no HD option in my estimation.

You are correct on the aluminum. However wrong on the 6.2L; it is still in production as the default engine on the F250/350. The 7.3L Gas is an upgrade...

Thank you! I had read that the engine had changed as well as the addition of the 7.3 and must have misunderstood. Appreciate the correction!

You can re-rate the GVWR. We did that on our Chevy C70.
